What an ending!!! Huge crash at the final corner with Nick Heidfeld.
But overall the race is relatively boring compare to Formula 1 this season. Having said that, street circuit with 90 degrees corners and bus-stop chicane was not the best for racing audience.

The national anthem was too short, both Brazilian and German anthems were cut weirdly at an awkward tune.

The car just FLEW! Man he hit the wall hard. I guess sliding over the first rumble strip got him airborne and that's how he was so high when he hit the wall

I was bored to tears throughout the whole race; frankly I'd rather watch NASCAR. And I hate NASCAR. The only exciting action was the bonehead move Prost put on Heidfeld. Doubt I'll waste my time watching it again, as I'd rather play with my Scalextrix set.

I have to admit, it was rather boring to watch indeed. Sound aside, the cars did not seem fast at all. Having to switch mid race to 2nd car cause your battery is dead is kind of a slap in the face to the whole E thing.

They do seem slow, and given the layout of street circuit didn't help with the overtaking. Although we do have a few scraps among Piquit Jr. and also final corner Heidfeld and Prost.

Remember Singapore GP? we hardly see lots of overtaking. That's the nature of street circuits.

But given the first year, first race. Its "not too bad". I'll give it a shot and watch next April at Long Beach.

I agree with this.
How many times have we yawned at F1 or MotoGP? How many posters have commented on knowing the outcome at the halfway mark or even before the race had begun?

They looked slow but it's hard to gauge true speed on the tv. I think they were hitting around 100mph but I don't think this track layout was conducive to top end speed

This was the first race of the first season. Sure there's a lot to work out but I will give it more chances namely the next ePrix and I'll be at the Miami stop trackside.

Thanks for posting the video.

I enjoyed the race.

Yes, top speeds are not as fast as pretty much any other major racing sport. But the racing is not bad, they are there giving their all.

It is first race, of the first season, of a completely new type of racing. I will give it a chance and watch more. I think there was some decent racing between the mid pack guys and also at the front toward the end.

Glad to see the drivers in the last corner incident were OK.

I think there is a lot of potential here.

The switching to second car is a current band aid on the technology ... Once technology improves it will not be that way.

Excited for the future of Formula E and will be watching future races, and of course attend Miami Formula E in person.

I kind of enjoyed it but they seriously need to up the speeds.

Did you guys read this?

Heidfeld defends Formula E after Vettel attack

F1's reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel recently slammed the fully electric powered series - which kicked off on the streets of Beijing last weekend with an all-star grid and global interest - as "cheese".

Ultimately, German Heidfeld - a veteran of no less than 185 Grands Prix and 13 podiums - was arguably the star of the show, spectacularly crashing in a last-lap lunge to take victory from Nicolas Prost, the son of the F1 legend.

But Vettel said recently: "I'm not a fan of it (Formula E), and as a viewer I would not be interested."

Heidfeld, who drives for the team co-founded by Hollywood actor Leonardo Dicaprio, was asked by the German-language Spox to react to Vettel's attitude.

"I like Sebastian and I don't know in what context he said that," the 37-year-old answered.

Ok a little disappointing but not bad. I was hoping they would use the natural curves of Biscayne Blvd over the Miami River. This is all 90 degree turns. Still going though!

I wanted to see causeway! But it should still offer nice waterfront background scenery

Yeah they could have used part of I-395 and the new tunnel actually. That would have been sick!

On Monday October 20, Formula E revealed the track layout for the Miami ePrix. Using the AmericanAirlines Arena – home of the Miami Heat - as a stunning backdrop, the March 14, 2015 event will bring street racing back to the Floridian metropolis for the first time in over a decade.

In fact, the last time the residents of Miami could see single-seaters racing around their streets was in 2003, when the Champ Car World Series staged the second of its two Grand Prix Americas around the Bayfront Park part of the city.
But street racing in Miami goes back further than that to the mid-1980s, when CART organised a race around the streets of Tamiami Park. Events took place on the 1.784-mile (2.87km) track from 1985 until 1988. Danny Sullivan, Al Unser Jr (twice) and Michael Andretti – whose company is organising the Miami ePrix – were the winners.

Tamiami Park was also the scene of two non-championship all-star events in which Andretti and Bobby Rahal triumphed.

From the mid-1980s to the mid-1990s, a successful sportscar race was run in Bicentennial Park, which is very close to the new Formula E circuit. In 1995, while work was being completed on the all-new Miami-Homestead oval, a CART race was held on this track, and Jacques Villeneuve took the honours.

It wouldn’t be until 2002 that single-seater street racing returned to Miami, with an updated version of another old sportscar haunt - Bayfront Park. The event lasted just two years, with Cristiano da Matta and Mario Dominguez the victors.
