What to use to clean windows?

What is everyone using to clean their glass? Windex plain old sucks. Leaves white streaking everywhere. I don't know if they changed the formula, but it's awful and looks clean for about a week, then all these streaks appear.

Just normal car shampoo and wiping dry with a chamois leather (don't use that for the paint work though risking swirls)

I periodically treat the glass with rain-x aswell which helps and any streaks can be removed with a damp kitchen tissue followed by a wipe with a bone dry one

Switch to Sprayway Ammonia Free Glass Cleaner, superior to Windex, has a nice foaming action, no ammonia and it smells so good lol.

Make your own.
Mix 50% IPA with distilled water in a 50/50 solution.
Works great AND it's cheap.
Most window cleaners have high IPA content.

Also works great as a panel wipe (pre-ceramic or other spray coating) if you dilute down to 25/75 IPA/distilled water.

Interesting….you're the first I've heard using that potion. That will definitely cut the oils/film.

Been using that for ages, on glass and many other things.
Most of the deposits on the interior screen are a result of 'off gassing' from the components of the dashboard and car interior, which can actually be fairly difficult to remove totally.
I find doing it with the IPA solution or Car Pro Eraser (smells so much nicer than standard IPA/water) then, as that has removed the vast majority of everything, a wipe with a clean (note must be fresh and clean) microfibre towel with a very light mist of de-ionised water on it leaves them totally smear free.

Thankfully this only needs doing two or three times a year for me as its a right pain to do correctly.

I use distilled water in a spay bottle and Norwex purple glass cloths. That's it. Norwex Purple cloths are a must have.

I used Chemical Guys window cleaner for a while and it's fine, not really worth it in my opinion. I've been giving Invisible Glass a try and I like it much better and it's a way better price.

And, as usual, Joe has given me something new to look up and decide I must have it! Haha.

I actually got those cleaning cloths that Joe recommended. I didn't use them yet. I like the idea of just using distilled water.

I think you both will be pleased with the Purple window cloths and just water. I also have a Windshield Wow, but I am afraid to use it with HUD. The magnets are strong and heavy, it you hit the edge they will separate and drop. I use if on my other cars and definitely for the rear window which is the biggest PIA. Norwex Purple is the best though, but does require elbow grease.

Never use paper towels, only use clean microfiber towels that’s touched nothing besides glass and glass cleaner and use one side to wipe down glass then other dry side to dry the glass

Go with a 50/50 mix of distilled water and white vinegar in a spray bottle. I use it on all windows both home and auto. With a good quality micro fiber cloth it'll clean the heck out of your windows.

Due to the ceramic coating, the surface is flat or hydrophobic. Therefore, fewer contaminants can stick to the surface, making it easy to clean. There is no need to use aggressive shampoo. Instead, use pH-neutral shampoo with no added wax.

For the interior I’ve gone with the minimum required and just use a drop “literally” of washing up liquified on a damp towel or tissue and wiped off with dry tissues to remove any marks

I’ve tried glass polished in the past but found I ended up getting it all over place so now stay away from that

Honestly I take a tupperware container and mix a tiny bit of Dawn dish soap with hottest water, and then I use an old washcloth and immediately dry with old cotton towel. Key is make sure glass is cool and out of sun (regardless of what you use), and go top down across in full strokes. All these plastics in our cars off-gas, and the Dawn cuts that and any grease. When I do windshield, I lay the towel across the dash, just to cover HUD and vents, and then wipe across in full strokes as I can to dry, always leaves streak free, clean glass.

ONR and distilled water for the interior side of glass. It's incredible how simple it is and how well it works.

Externally, I start there, but if I need more cleaning power I go up from there with traditional window cleaning options.

Autofinesse Crystal or Infinity Wax Spotless, or, as suggested above IPA.

You want to do a few passes with clean cloths each time. Do half with one side, then the other half after flipping cloth. Go back and do it again the same. A LOT of people do one pass and it looks great until you realise you've partially cleaned it and just lifted part of the problem.

If it's particularly bad, consider a clay bar first with the appropriate lube or it will stick and create something else to remove, or a steamer and wipe off first before using glass cleaner.

Biggest tip I can give you is, don't rush it and be thorough.
