Well, nitric oxide and nitrous oxide are 2 different gases, so it is not available at the local speed shop. Medical grade nitrous oxide, like the dentist uses, and nitrous at a speed shop are the same quality.
Not to say some knuckle head won't be trying it! Bought my fair share of nitrous oxide, but it always went into an engine, not my lungs.

Nitrous Oxide you get from a speed shop has a small amount of sulfur dioxide added to it to prevent people from inhaling/abusing it.

That was my point, just like the knuckleheads took fish tank chemical because the name was similar to one of the drugs that they heard were being tested on TV.
Do you know how many people have tried to offer gluten-free food to diabetics on gluCOSE restrictions?????

Nothing amazes me any more. Remember when oxygen bars were all the fad/rage?
I was shocked that someone with no training can just give any person off the street oxygen. During my EMT training, we were told oxygen was considered a drug and for good reason. There are a few contra-indications concerning its use. At worst depending on the person and the conditions, you can actually stop a person's breathing. Granted many of these bars were using simple face masks. I wouldn't put it passed them about more is better and offer an up charge to customers to use non-rebreathers. |
