Exactly what I was thinking. Maybe wishful thinking but If it's 64% or more this is going to lease very well when BMW has discounts on it. European delivery will make for a very interesting trip.

540i is nice, but I'm only interested in what the M550i will command!

Damn no 4 Zone Climate Control. May have to be special ordered at this point (like we did on our 550i xDrive!).

It's the same material used in the standard seats. Faux leather. It's okay as a dash covering.

Man I hope for BMW it's more than just a soft feeling vinyl dash with contrast colored stitching. Hello 1989.

Not all the options are available from the beginning: leather dash, Nappa or Merino leather or other Individual stuff.
And fake things are... fake! Don't like them.

SensaTACKY dash is gross. I'd rather have a nice soft-touch dashboard. Anyone who disagrees needs to compare an X5 with the fake-leather dash and one in nappa/merino.

So, if one selects nappa leather on the G30, does one still get the fake-leather dash? If that's the case, I hope BMW rectifies soon!

Pricing is very good.

I just priced out a 540i Msport for $62k compared to my 2013 535i Msport which was $65k with same options!

I don't think it's at the same performance level as the F10 550i which has 100 more horsepower. I think it just has a faster 0 to 60 due to the all-wheel-drive, but once the cars are rolling, like on the highway or something, the F10 550 will probably leave it behind.

I think back when cars had 0 to 60 times of six or seven seconds, that specification could be useful for something about how powerful a car was. But now days I don't think it means very much when the cars are in the 3.5 to 4.5 second range due to traction issues. But if you like accelerating to 60 from a stop all the time then I guess you could have some fun with it. Other than that, I think that the 0-60 spec is pretty useless these days to describe how powerful a car is on the highway or autobahn.

But who knows? My statement is just one man's opinion.
Here's an excerpt posted in another thread that shows the G30 540i is very close if not faster than a F10 550i to 130mph. In these #s the 540i would be pulling away from the 550i at triple digits. This is all mag racing though; only way to know is to line them up. Having a 340i in my garage I can tell you the B58 is very potent; it's definitely faster than a F10 550i.

Sport mode with ESP off.
0-96kmh (60mph):4.87 secs
0-100kmh (62mph): 5.31 secs.
0-161kmh (100mph): 11.2 secs.
0-200kmh (124mph): 17.14 secs.
0-209kmh (130mph): 18.62 secs.
0-250kmh (155mph): 30.33 secs.

To give you an idea compared to the previous 550i (Auto): http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...trumented-test

Zero to 60 mph: 4.8 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 11.0 sec
Zero to 130 mph: 19.0 sec

So the new 540i is about as fast as the last gen 550i
Those are 2011 numbers...the 550 received a 45hp and 30 lb. ft. bump in 2014, and recalibrated transmission tuning, bringing 0-60 times, with x drive, into the low 4's.

So no, in the hyper competitive world of automotive 0-60 times, the new 540 is not "about" as fast as the last 550.
That is certainly true. That 540i is nothing to sneeze at for sure though. FWIW almost all of the F10 550is around here are RWD so even in the 4s to 60 would be a good run.

Nappa is in the order guide.

if you were a cow, you'd appreciate BMW using a bit less of their hide.

I'm interested to see if this sensatec dash is smooth or textured.
The sensotec looks and feels great but THE STATIC IN COLD WEATHER WHEN GETTING OUT OF THE CAR is terrible. The sensotec and most of your clothes will "stick" to it and the friction leaving is horrendous. Not a fan

I noticed the static issue when I had a service loaner.

As for the sensatec dash, good thing clothing interactions shouldn't be an issue.

I thought it was called Dakota leather? That's what I got because I didn't want dead animal parts in my car. Unfortunately BMW's imitation leather feels like alligator skin.

ha ha. Dakota is leather from the whipped and beaten cows. they have to stamp it to hide the scarring.

I doubt dealers know lease deals at this date. First cars arrive February 2nd week. Customer cars come sometime after. We'll need to wait for February lease rates (or possibly March) to know what initial lease deals are.
