Tint - How to decide which type and what % to get?

I have read about sunroofs exploding after tint installed. Just FYI.

I certainly hope not. Luckily I live in building with a parking garage and work from home, so my car won't be left in the sun very often. Thanks for the info.

So I just got my M550ix back from the tint shop. I went with 3M Crystalline. The sides and back windows have 20% (not legal in Texas), the windshield has 70%, and the sunroof has 40%. Looks great. I can confirm that when I passed through some buildings with no direct sunlight that the instrument panel did in fact dim until it became bright again. I was expecting this, so it's no big deal. It is noticeable if you're looking for it. It's also worth noting that I have the black nappa leather interior, so it's already dark without the tint.

Too soon.
Sorry I can't comment on that because the reason I spent so much time on Bimmerpost is to avoid all the political BS on FB. But it might get a lot worst in 2 years. When I hear how much our friends across the ocean pay in taxes for a new BMW it's crazy.

There is a post on this site about a sunroof that exploded but I think that was because he had the trim wrapped in black PPF. But why sunroof when it has a shade. Just asking because I thought of sunroof but decided against it. Imho

I went with 3M Crystalline window tint. The sides and back windows have 20% (not legal in Texas), the windshield has 70%, and the sunroof has 40%. I made the sunroof a little darker (the OEM privacy glass was about 20%) to match the rest of the windows. It looks very consistent. I never close the sunroof shade, so I wanted to all look the same which they do now.

See photos above. I just added and before and after.

I went pretty dark as well. Figured I wouldn't roll the dice on the sunroof. I hope you never experience any issues.

Nice. What level is that? Do you also experience dimming in low lit areas during the day? I was expecting it and mine definitely does. Having a black interior isn't helping either.

5% and haven't noticed any dimming. I will get back to you if I do. I have black interior as well.
