Whining coming from engine

Hey ya'll, anyone else hear whining coming from the engine when floored? Sounds exactly like a supercharger but not as loud.

If you're accidently hitting the rev limiter, the engine will make some weird noises to counter it. Ask me how I know.........LOL

Post a video if you can duplicate it and member will chime in, but you're good to go either way with a new '22 and factory warranty.

If you're accidently hitting the rev limiter, the engine will make some weird noises to counter it. Ask me how I know.........LOL

My 21 M550i LCI, has always made a sound that fits this description. Need the windows open to hear it. It hasn't gotten any louder or changed at all in 9k miles so I figured it's a feature rather than a bug.

My guess is it is Active Sound Design, not the engine. Kill ASD and see if it is still there. I remember that Whine when I has ASD on. It's fake noise.

It's the zf8 transmission making the noise, when it gets warmed up some of them make a whine, my last two had it and no issues with them

I bet it's the driver of the car next to you. BMW recently issued a TSB for this condition; the solution is to roll up the window and gloat.
