Thoughts on X--pipe for 22' m550

Greeting everyone, it’s a struggle choosing x pipe. I know it’s not going to give much exhaust note difference but I’m more worried about the long run.

I love Remus tbh. But if I use their catback system now then add catted DP I’m scared it’s going to sound obnoxious!

I figure to use x pipe in between hoping to soften the sound later with upgrades.(if that makes sense lol) I’m not interested in str8 pipe setup. Which the problem comes in play lol.

Dinan x pipe with Remus axel back? I’ve not seen anyone yet with this setup. Or AA midpipe with Remus axel back. Added even with a valvetronic mid pipe with Remus axel back.

Thanks to all who takes time out to respond!

The X-pipe does not soften the sound, it makes it more high-pitched.

To soften the sound, you need a single midpipe.

Since you are set on the downpipe and REMUS exhaust, I recommend you start with the catted downpipe and REMUS axle back. if you want more sound, you can add their midpipe or Dinan X-pipe later.

Since you are concerned about being obnoxious, you sound like a perfect candidate for a full Dinan Catback. It's more of a smooth engineered sound, but remarkable at the same time. Remus may be obnoxious for you.

An X-mid-pipe only with the stock muffler will do absolutely nothing noticeable to the sound. If you go X-pipe you gotta go axle-back.

With res-delete plus x-pipe it’s definitely louder and better than stock in sport/sport+. Also on my 2020 you get nice burbles.

Are you running the Dinan X Pipe? I’m pretty sure all mid x pipes eliminate the resonators.

My research and experience is that doing only the Dinan X Pipe is lacking on bang for the buck.

Maybe other solutions with the stock muffler provide better results.

I have to agree, I'm currently running a Dinan x pipe with stock muffler and essentially eliminates the two resonators creating significantly louder pops and crackles in sport+ mode. In comfort mode sounds pretty much the same as a stock setup, although in my case I have slight drone at idle. Possibly adding the full Dinan cat back setup eliminates the drone but not willing to fork out $$ to see if it resolves it.

An X pipe is less raspy than two straight pipes. I would like to hear a H pipe on this motor I think it might sound better again.

Res-delete and x-pipe from the local exhaust shop. I’m in Australia and the cost a Dinan x-pipe which is just some tubing wasn’t worth it.

Doing x-pipe and not doing res-delete wouldn’t do much.
