OMG .. the M550i in RHD?? could it be true!
Looks like 2020 will finally bring the M550 to the right-hand drive market.
By the sound of this article, it appears that the Pure edition would also be rear-wheel drive. Exciting news. I could get tempted. https://www.drive.com.au/news/2020-b...00-122845.html So this must mean that the UK will be getting these as well? Last edited by DBO; 11-25-2019 at 03:17 PM.. |

Hope you get the RHD. I love my M550. Not sure, from my perspective, having owned an M4 with the constant wheelspin, why anyone would want RWD. Recently drove an M5 in AWD at Circuit of the Americas and it was awesome, cornering amazingly better than the M4 I drove just before it. Xdrive is awesome! Anyway, hope you get it and it is everything you want.

wow
It was rumoured back in March it would come to the UK https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/bmw/5-...ming-to-the-uk Been very quiet since, I'd never heard anything official or unofficial. I think the pricing of this is critical to determine it success. Given the momentum behind preventing climate change I figured BMW UK had changed their minds , and we still have to wait to see if they decide to launch it. if its going to come, LCI time would be the obvious one. If it doesn't launch with that, then I suspect it never will. Have a 540i myself and have been interested in this, not for the ultimate performance as such but more for the low down torque that I suspect the engine would produce along with the refinement of petrol. Thing is , man maths is going to make trading in a 3 year old 540 for a 550 very difficult to justify. I can't see anything on the global bmw press website as of now. The other thing that is in the back of my mind concerns taxation on a car like this in the UK, the potential for large taxes to be put on it as its green credentials are hardly anything to shout about! Owners could get stuff with horrific road tax in future potentially - who knows - just something to ponder over. (sorry to spoil the fun!) |

It would be hard for me to take M550i over M5. My aspiration is not too high, the non competition M5 would do, even a used one would do.
