Does a G30 spare tire kit clear M-sport brakes?

All,

Hope everyone is well! I had a question and I was hoping someone on here could provide some insight.

Does anyone know if the OEM spare tire would clear the M sport brakes? I’ve tried searching but no luck on results. I do know modern spare sells a spacer but I’m not sure if that is need with the OEM set up.

If anyone could chime in, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

If you are talking about G30 M-Sport brakes, in their largest caliper configuration (540i/550i), you need an 18" wheel minimum, and clearance in that size is mm-tight.

I mean, if it's OEM, then I don't see why they would offer it on the G30 based on the ordering guide. As a matter of fact, getting "22E 20 in. M Double-spoke wheels, style 668M w/ Michelin Pilot Super Sport non rft" on the M550i will automatically add "300 Space-saver spare" to the order.

I have never used mine however I chose the oem spare option in my build and I have the 19” run flat option. I assume the configurator would not allow and non compatible spare. Again putting faith in the company could be a bad idea. The flats / blow outs I have had all allowed me to limp home. I would have paid for a full size spare and jack in a hot second.

I have 19” OEM wheels (664m I believe), optional blue sport brakes (2NH?) and the optional 18” spare in the trunk. I’ve never used the spare but looking at the brake clearance on the 19” wheels there’s about 1” between the front caliper and the wheel. Using the spare would only need half that so it should work.
