Looking forward to your honest review. I've been sitting on the fence about this for a while.

I don't want to review it yet
Had it since 11this morn.
Problem is heading to universal studios tomorrow morning till Sunday.
But I can say there's a difference. It's 91 and humid here, and the car runs like it's 60 and dry. I've been out playing as much as I could today. Yes faster and way better from any roll speed. Feel a lot closer to my f10 M5 with bolt ons now. Begging someone to race me from a dig so I Launch control them .

No it's not a full tune, but having Dinan agree to be responsible if their unit or extra power breaks something is worth the $$, ease of mind and the missing of the extra 40-50 more hp from a real tune.

Bottom line is yes I am happy with it.

They were moving to a single platform in V2 for all cars and this effected some capabilities. Truth be told, I have the BT capability but never turn it off and see no reason to.

Also because the BT just doesn't work very well. I have to basically open my hood and place my phone on top of the Dinan unit. (Stage 1, V1)

The new V2 for the M550 doesn't have Bluetooth ability.. you have to remove key away from car, disconnect battery then plug the plug into the device under the hood to go back to stock tune for service or if there's an issue. Kinda not a great attribute but I can live with it.
How do you like it so far?

Also, as far as going through that whole procedure to install the bypass plug...I didn't do any of that. Lol. I just unplugged the Dinan ECU and put in the bypass plug in its place. And a couple of days later, reversed the procedure. Anyway, my car is driving great and I can't imagine any reason why I'll ever use the bypass plug again.

They also removed all of the additional sensor plug-ins that were in the original version and now you just plug into the 2 MAP sensors. I'm not sure if they've removed the old video on their website where Steve Dinan brags about how their tune is so much better than all of the others because it uses additional sensors.

They removed it because Steve Dinan doesn't have anything to do with Dinan, the company, anymore for the past 2-3 years.

I was waiting for carbaun his new company to come out with something for my car, but if they do and it's got better numbers I'll try that one too. They offer warranty coverage just like Dinan does.

AddyDaddy - Let me know if you hear the exhaust get louder as a result of the Dinan S1. For my 340 it definitely made the exhaust generally louder, especially in comfort mode. a bit more droning and mid-range rumble.

I am going to do a full review in about 2-3 weeks.

I coded my flaps open and while they were open I took out the 7.5 red fuse from trunk so the flaps are locked open, way better sound, did that a week after I got it. Will keep posted about it getting louder with the Dinan on it!
I am pleased so far since yesterday, except I got on it today and found out my car is limited to 130mph.....

Yeah, no. The video is still there with Steve Dinan claiming that their product is superior to others because it has additional sensors (which is no longer true in V2):

Coming from a f10 M5 with bolt ons to the M550 was a change to say the least. I don't care if Steve's not with the company any longer. His new co doesn't have anything yet for our cars. If you blow your engine it's the only choice if you want help paying $40k plus for replacement. I've asked carbauhn when they will have a tune for our cars. I'm willing to test and apply anything with the help of warranty. I've gone down the tune road blindly and won't do it again. Less power is ok for the costs of possible failures

Oh, I don't care if Steve Dinan is part of the company anymore either. I just think it's super funny that they have a video touting how their system is so much better than the others based on the additional sensors when the reality is: "Yeah, we're not doing that anymore." Lol.

So,
Like I think I've mentioned, it's so much hotter now than when I got the car and when I got Dinan that it's hard to say how much butt dyno feels. I will say this, I believe this is a great way to definitely add 40whp and a bunch of WTQ to the car. When I mention how hot it is, I believe it was in lower to mid 70's and last couple months it's been low to mid 90's, so you lose power with humidity and heat jumping up so much.
Bottom line is I like it, no it's not a full blown tune, but it's an improvement. Peace of mind is awesome being able to enjoy it without the lurking feeling that if something breaks or blows that you could lose a portion of your kids college fund.
When it gets cooler out I will do a couple runs at the track and a couple more with bypass plug in for traps and ET's.

where did you mount the unit? how difficult was the install?

when you take car to dealer for service, going to take it as-is? or put the bypass plug on?

I had extreme performance install it since they are approved installer according to Dinan. Want to say they charged $200 for install, maybe $300. Don't remember. I'm friendly with my SA and head shop guy at my dealer and they are cool about it and gave me certain advice of what to do before I brought it in if say something went wrong. Aside from that I wasn't advised to take it out before service
It's mounted on front right of engine bay by shock bolts. Kinda hidden if you didn't know what you were looking at

So as it's dropped 10-12 degrees out in past week I have become happier with the Dinan V2.
It's clear to say it gets you half way to a full blown flash tune. I'd love to run some tuned cars to see the difference for fun. You can't beat the warranty aspect of it, you just can't.
