Does anyone know of a remote engine start solution for BMW g30's? I've searched and can't find anything.

I suspect that if BMW does ever offer this, those of us in the litigious USA will not get it. Some moron will start the car in his/her garage and die, their estate will sue BMW and so they are trying to avoid the entire thing.

That's why we have the disclaimer screen and don't get some features that everyone else does in the rest of the world.

BMW offers remote start for some other models, such as G20, G05, even in litigious USA. I expect this option will be available for the G30 starting with LCI.

I stand corrected. Again.

Thanks.

It's a basic function our cars should be able to do. Can't believe no ones figured a way to code the option in yet

Yes - I'm hoping it shows for the LCI. Unfortunately - for the cars that do have it, it does NOT turn on seat heat/AC/heat etc but I guess begger's can't be choosers!

Central locking, AC and a radio are basic functions. Remote start isn't 'basic' yet or by definition it would be normal in almost every car...

It makes perfect sense that no one has figured it out; you can only code an option that BMW have already integrated into the model but which is simply not active on your car. Remote start does not exist on the G30 so can't just be coded in.

People have coded it on the G05 X5, as its an option on that car.

Toyota's, fords, Chevy, Cadillac, nissans all have remote start. So yes always been surprised we don't have it as it seems pretty normal/ basic for a highline car.

It is actually not remote start but it is better: it is the ability to turn on the HvAC via the phone app by running it off the hybrid battery. The car doesn't start.

If you have the remote parking feature the car is able too start with the key if you are close enough too the car. So the car obviously is able too start itself. I would think it's just a matter of someone figuring out how to code or enable the feature. The key will start the car but if you don't get in after a certain amount of tine the car shuts off.

I stand corrected. I just know it's on the new X series. Guess we'll have to wait for the next generation or LCI.

It's $1,000, but will give you what you want. They have an ad in the newest Roundel magazine.

Agreed. The setup in the 530e is absolutely awesome.

Especially considering idling is horrible for ICE engines so remote start to have the car idling seems like a bad idea to me. ICE engines like to be warmed up by driving not idling.

Prices are in CAD so closer to $700USD. Not that I've tried it as the 530e setup is amazing.

The G30 line all have had for years the ability to remote start in the code and working. they just don't let you do it. so it's there, if you get the self-parking option on a 2019 G30 it enables remote-start from the display keyfob.

also, they entire BMW system is all electronic, the car start button is not a physical button, so it can be activated via software.

it's all 100% possible right now to use the BMW app to remote start our G30 cars, no hardware or extra keyfobs required, it's simply no one has invested the effort to figure out how to get it to work. and for some explainable reason BMW doesn't offer it, even as add-on.

you can do it. You can buy a display key from aliexpress which comes with additional options. It looks like OEM display key but it is not. In addition to above you need to provide sim card to the system. It should all be plug and play.
