Is DHP necessary?

Looking to order a 2021 M550, currently driving a F10 (535j without DHP. I can’t find a local dealer with a G30 and the DHP option to test drive. Is the DHP an necessary option for a better ride?

It depends on what your after. I have m sport suspension and it's so comfortable in comfort mode. You feel like you are gliding around at 20 mph when you are hitting 75 mph. Then when you put in sport the suspension stiffens enough for me to enjoy spirited driving. It's your call and your car! People say get the DHP but for me M sport was a good balance between DHP and base suspension.

If I was on the market for M550 I would get the Dynamic Handling Package. I would not get it for the Adaptive M Suspension but I would definitely get it for the Integral Active Steering. I could use some extra maneuverability in tight tri-state area parking lots.

I don't particularly care for Dynamic Dampers or Active Roll Stabilization. I am very happy with the very static msport 704 suspension

IAS is not offered on 540xi

I've got the base car with the base non-adjustable suspension, and it's a very comfortable ride. The handling is perfectly fine too. Sure, hardcore sporty types will want a "stiffer" (i.e. less comfortable) sport suspension, but you don't need it unless you just like that feel.

IMHO.

I have to agree with this! Living in Philly, having the tighter turning radius makes a big difference, especially with parallel parking in tight spots.

For IAS, yes it makes sense.

My M550i is pretty much a base, and I like it that way. For me, it is not a canyon carving car. If I have to go through a few canyons in Los Angeles to get to my clients, it will do just fine. I got mine for the combination of engine and comfortable ride.

Good luck and the order.
