The Wait Begins - 2021 M550i Order
So, after placing the order on Monday with my dealer, the car quickly moved from 111 to 112, though BMW's Genius system said today (Saturday) that there was no scheduled production date - my dealer told me Week 45 (11/2/2020) was when it would start.
The anticipation is killing me already, and I know I'll be waiting until at least Mid-December if not closer to Christmas/New Years.... My build: 2021 M550i Tanzanite Blue II Black Nappa Fineline Ridge 19" 845m Jet Black rims w/all season run flats M Sport Brakes w/Red Calipers Executive Package Driving Assistance Pro Package Parking Assistance Package Front/Rear Heated Seats Front Ventilated Seats Front Massaging Seats Heated Steering Wheel For those interested in the deal portion, I did a 36/10k lease and was able to get 10.5% off and buy-rate MF through a lease broker, though I snagged this dealer's last M550i production slot for the foreseeable future. Going to be a big shift for me going from a 6MT '18 440xi coupe to this beast, but my wife is very excited for the semi-autonomous cruise control options and the massaging luxury seats compared to the very hard seats she complains about in my 4 series. I'm excited for the V8 noise and power, and having the wireless charging mat / place for my phone so I don't need my Kuda USA/ProClip phone mount wart on my center tunnel anymore like my 4 series. Will post plenty of pictures once it arrives, and as I do my little tweaks and mods. Immediate ones will include pulling the fuse for the exhaust valves, tints all around, reflector deletes, the red start/stop button, and likely red metal paddle shifters to give it a little extra pop of color. (Plus my usual Owl dash cam and Uniden R7 w/blendmount setup). |

hoyas490 Very nice configuration. Congrats.
My sales person also told me my production is scheduled to start on week 45. I called genius and turns out week 45 is the end of production. I actually called them twice and they were adamant week 45 is the estimated end of production not the start. Will see... Give them a call, see what they tell you 1.844.4GENIUS (443-6487)

Congrats! Its an amazing car - I went from 340xi and can tell you from my experience its a whole new world... it’s absolutely nothing like a 3/4 series... everything is significantly better. You’ll be thrilled.

Congrats!! Definitely keep me updated. Mine's getting delivered to NY via a dealer in PA, so if you're coming to the east coast and getting produced soon like mine, there is a good shot! What spec did you order? |

View post on imgur.com I am in Texas... so not sure where it goes to first before coming here. I have not really done any of the tracking, other than through the track my bmw website, which I understand is behind by a few days. It has been on "production day" for the last week. I may try calling the genuis number this afternoon. As far as my build, I did the Dark Graphite Metallic with 20in bi-color wheels, shadow line, black nappa leather, aluminum smoke grey interior, premium package, driving and parking assist, ventilated seats, and red calipers. I did not get as good a deal as you did as I went through a local dealer, but, oh well. An extra $100 a month is not going to break me and I am super excited to get it! Tint will be installed as soon as it gets here... and I am about to push buy on the IND color matched side reflectors and license plate! You mention doing exhaust vales and a red start/stop button. I am intrigued - where can I look or read about those?? I was thinking about doing exhaust after the break-in period. I have looked at AC, Remus, Dinan, etc., but haven't decided on anything yet. Check out this post on how to fully and intensely track your BMW order: https://www.bmwblog.com/2009/07/14/h...d-to-delivery/ This is my 3rd go round for tracking and it’s quite a fun way to drive yourself insane with anticipation. Regarding the mods, def go with the reflectors, made a HUGE difference on my 440xi. Will be ordering all my shit once I see its getting on a ship so I have everything about 2-3 weeks ahead of getting the car. Will also be doing tints immediately. For the exhaust valves, it’s actually just pulling a fuse. Here’s the thread, scroll down a bit and you’ll see the post with the DIY for it. I want to eventually do an AC exhaust based on the videos online I've seen, where it sounds the best. But $4,500 plus install is a lot of $ on a lease exhaust, so might just do the cheaper resonator delete option first and see if that satisfies my needs. https://g30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1394998 Red start button is a super easy mod to do, and the part is only like $20-40 depending on where you source from. This is the one in my mods/parts spreadsheet I'm preparing to buy: https://autotecknic.com/collections/...32-6-series-gt My car was only in 111 for about 24-36 hours, then quickly went into 112. I know that's not abnormal, but also not super standard depending on options and your build date. I found that BMW Genius wasn't able to tell me my production date until 1 week out (Monday of this week), and well after I got to 112. Before that, it was my BMW client advisor who sold me the car that gave me my production week (Week 45) and I based everything off of that. Until you're in 112 / 150, your client advisor will be much more helpful on information than the Genius line can be. |

I wonder how I got in front of you when you ordered about 5 days before me... maybe because of the exterior color or something?

One further update, BMW Genius line's automated system has my projected completion date as 11/11/2020, so I'm feeling optimistic about getting her before Christmas still. Will have to wait and see though how these new lockdowns start to take effect and impact things.

Just ordered the red start button, red paddle shifters, paint-matched front reflector deletes from IND (those of us in NA will understand the pain of those orange pimples) new NY white license plates, dynamat for behind my plates to eliminate the rattle, new plate frames, and weathertech floor liners + trunk liner. I am so, so ready for this car to come already hahaha |

I just got a text from my dealer and I am already finished with production! Next step is to get to a boat... dealer says is should be here by first week of December, but possibly before the end of the month.
