There is no spare tire well in the G30.
Only a hole big enough for the regular battery.

The spare tire option adds a tire holder that fits to the floor of the trunk and a new trunk floor to cover the tire holder ( ie it lifts the level of the trunk by that of the spare tire.

The "e" most likely has a extra battery pack that has already lifted the level of the trunk, leaving no space to lift it more with a spare.

There is a thread on the forum where I posted pictures of additional items that come with the spare

With the current generations I cant hear or feel a difference between them and my cars fitted with regular tyres.
Well that makes me feel better.

I am very picky about ride quality and have swapped to non-RFTs on both my F10s, both of which have adaptive drive.

I test drove a G30 on MSport suspension and 20s yesterday, Goodyear F1s I think, and the ride was much better than I expected, very similar to non-RFT 19s on an adaptive drive F10 in Sport mode.

Maybe the RFTs themselves have improved but the sidewall of 20s is so narrow that I think the biggest improvement must be in the damping and in the rigidity of the body. It's like the force from a pot hole edge or a cat's eye still transmits through the tyre to the rim but the dampers are so well tuned and so well braced against the new stiff body that you just don't get any knock or scuttle.

The Goodyears will go back on when I do a lease pull forward turn-in this Dec. Just drove a 530i with the M-performance option and 19" run flats. They were much better than the ones on my F10. I'll probably keep the run flats on the new 530e. The "e" doesn't have the delete run flats option, probably because the spare tire well is occupied with electronics (hope BMW has figured out how to keep water out of there). By the way, the delete run flats is a zero cost option, but initiates a mandatory $150 charge for a space saver spare.
spare tire charge is waived with non runflat option

Do you have any dimensions on this kit. My car comes in 3 to 4 weeks, I will post a picture. Just curious how much trunk I will lose. the dealer thinks I will just lose the little indent in trunk, similar to 7 series but he wasn't definitely sure. No Matter, Ditching the Run Flats was best thing. I told my wife I would Never Order a car again that had Run Flats.

Isn't it supposed to be 80l that you loose?

Well the spare is a 135/80R18, meaning its 135mm thick or about 5.32 inches
So I would say you loose atleast about 6 inches in depth.
But you do gain the storage containers infront of the tyre as per the picture above.

Still waiting to see it on an actual car

about 1 minute into video, you will see spare tire in trunk. Trunk still looks big to me. I am glad I ordered and ditched the run flats.

Hm, it's all the way up to the edge of the opening, so it looks like it takes up a lot of space to me.

Same thinking here, and will be quite a problem when swapping over to storing the full sized wheel, if the space saver is used.

If BMW do the same in the wagons, that will completely mess the capacity and usefulness. I'll stick with run-flats, much less of a compromise than years back.

Here is a much better picture. Trunk looks like it still has plenty of room.
