new ride.. old problems
hey guys I sold my f30msport in late Aug. and have been fighting back and forth on the new mb a220 and a 530ixdrive.. well trying to find stock on a mb that I like is impossible they have such limited stock at all the dealerships out here I would have to custom order one that I like.. As far as a Bmw 5 goes, I fianally found exactly what I want for features colors ect.. I called the dealership in Victoria bc and it was a dealer demo car with 12000km on it. We went back and forth on the price and I pulled the trigger on black Friday and purchased the car..
Now we live in a different province so my wife had to drive it to Calgary 1000km away for a vehicle inspection.. I figure no biggie pay the 300 bucks and put the registration on it, good to go... My wife sends me a nice email stating the car has failed the inspection as has a ripped boot on the back axle and there is grease everywhere and the car has multiple codes including 804415 E1C600 31781 B7F87DH/12056701 801C16 CD0600 B7F655 31786 31787 CF5561 Now I ask you Bmw guys,,, we have driven the car a total of 1000km exactly from Victoria bmw to Calgary bmw my wife is now stuck in Calgary until the car gets fixed.. they gave her a loaner but that's Friday, sat, sun, mon and tues in hotels and meals.. Calgary is the closest dealership in Alberta but we don't live there. Wasent the dealership suppose to due a 153pt, inspection befor giving us the car??? Should I pursue this issue with BMW CA and ask for restitution for the inconvince and expenses. what if the back wheel had a major malfunction on the Coquahala or Rogers Pass and she was in a serious accident.. The mechanic said it was a major issue.. Not sure what to due but iam very very upset right now with the dealership letting us take this car in a very unsafe condition.... |

Demo cars come with some level of BMW warranty, yes? If so (assuming CA is same as US here) you likely are covered by BMW Trip Interruption coverage and will need to talk to BMW CS and the repairing dealer about reimbursement.

That really sucks. I don't know what any of those codes mean, but no car with 12Kkm should have a torn boot and all of those issues.
If the car was CPO, then yes, there should have been an "inspection" and "certification". If not, then it was just a used car, and you kind of take your chances. Heck, even with CPO, as I learned from my last long distance bought sight-unseen car, is no guarantee that the car doesn't have issues or smells bad inside. Fortunately most of the issues were fixed under warranty, but I never did get the smell out. Lesson learned. Best of luck.
