That's putting the gear box into "sport mode" but is it just the gear box. That's not the same as the sport driving mode which encompasses throttle sensitivity, gearbox and suspension (if you have vdc)

You don't have the Adaptive Mode, (switch is missing), you require the adaptive suspension to have the feature.

Probably 80% Sport Individual with Steering/Engine/Transmission in Sport, but Suspension in Comfort. Around town this give me the responsiveness and sound I like, but still a softer ride.
On highways or outside of traffic, I'll kick over to Sport or Sport+. On the way home from work, I'll pop it in Comfort and turn on the seat heaters and massage. I tried Eco once. That lasted about 5 minutes and I've never touched it again. |

I use comfort mode almost exclusively. I don't care about eco mode either since I live in a southern state in the US. It gets hot here so must have AC on all the time. I haven't taken any long trips but I did do a 90 mile trip for thanksgiving dinner and I got just under 40 miles per gallon using the cruise control at 75 mph. I am happy with that. I guess it means that with my car highway cruising on a trip I would get 600 miles with a 3-gallon reserve. By the way, I have done this trip 2 times with this car. The first time I filled up the tank at a station just off the freeway and then stopped just off the freeway at my destination and refilled the tank. I did the math and came up with 39 MPH. Second trip I got lazy and just used the Dash display the same numbers on the same trip. I have a 2019 G-30 540i

I know I couldn't believe it either. That's why I did it twice. I made sure the tires were inflated to the proper pressure. The trip down I didn't get slowed down by any other drivers and it is relatively flat all the way down. I don't know if a longer trip would have made a difference. In 90 miles I used a little over 2 gallons. I have a disease that keeps me from traveling a long distance by myself. This next spring I plan to go to Florida to relive my childhood. See some of the old sites that I lived at when I was young. I will keep better records and track the gallons used vs miles traveled. Why you ask? Because I am retired and don't have any hobbies. I also learned how to use Excel this last summer. I will report further.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but one of the ECO PRO features is coasting, which decouples the engine from the transmission and allows it to idle as the car coasts without losing much speed. This happens when you take your foot of the fast pedal.
However, and I tested this many times, it DOES NOT happen with adaptive cruise on. If you're in cruise, even in ECO PRO, the engine always stays engaged and the car never coasts. I use ECO when driving around in traffic (less aggressive, more coasting), but if I'm on a highway with cruise on I just put it in Comfort. |

hi all
new here, new to me 2018 m550IX just sharing on this thread, i know its aged a bit.. i coded to start in SPORT INDIV with sport steering and dampers only. i also set ECO PRO INDIV to same. also made certain to get the digital cluster for the best visual experience. recently out of a f02 with their version of the cluster and def wanted to retain it. highly rec as a mod if you can swing it. re Adaptive, i would rather control the car and adjust myself rather than have a sudden change in reaction based on a computation of drive conditions. regards john |

Sport mode around town if traffic is mild.
Comfort around town if traffic heavy (auto start-stop disabled by Bimmercode) or road areas are more bumpy. Eco on crowded 1 lane highways where no traffic lights and passing will not take place- trying to get best fuel economy. Sport Plus on twisty roads at higher speeds, or when in mood to drive aggressively with lead foot.
