Exclamation Outside or in? Would you repair it/install it?

Bought a set of 2 used tires as a stop gap need until i purchase new Micheline Pilot Sport 4 A/S tires. The used tires came with a repair on one of the two. The repair is questionably close to the edge of the steele belt, if not outside it completely. My thinking is to return both but this is only a couple.months usage before these are replaced with new pilot sports.

Should I return or is it safe to install? Thanks!

If that wasn't disclosed by the seller, I'd be pretty pissed off.

It doesn't look like a repair. It appears to be a gouge from hitting something. If the tire holds air, then use it. If not, return it. As long as you are not tracking the car or traveling over 80 mph, I wouldn't worry about it.

It is a patch repair from the inside of the tire and not a plug type. I am surprised that a patch type repair job leaves a significant void on the surface of the tire. I was wondering if a plug on top patch is something to consider?

I put a couple of new pics up. Theres a metalic reflective point that shows in one of the pics which is the steel belt showing down in the void. But it looks solid still.

Looks to me like it's a proper patch/plug repair in the tread. I wouldn't be concerned, especially as these tires will be temporary. That said, I am NOT a tire specialist.

That's a proper repair IMHO. I'd run that.

I wouldn't lose a second of sleep over this, looks to be a proper inside repair.
