Maybe the reverse tach is a design element to go with the Edsel grills on upcoming models. BMW seems to have lost its pathway as the ultimate driving machine. Give me simple black on white gauges that move in the correct direction.

I can live the grills but not with those awful gages staring right back at you while driving.

ID7 is the answer to a question no one asked. Buggy and not any bette/easier to navigate than ID6.

And don't get me started about the eyesore reverse gauges...
Agreed, I thought ID7 was horrible and very unintuitive to navigate; a step backwards IMHO!

The two things about ID7 that I do like are a) remote start (I live where there is snow) and b) using your phone as a FOB so no need for a key!

Both of which are only available in full versions
Of ID7 not ID7 lite as currently offered on G30.

Absolutely - and never will be available to the current G30 (although as iD6, remote cooling and heating is available on the 530e).

The lease on my 2017 540 is coming due and I'm interested in getting a new one. Probably looking to get a 2020 instead of waiting for a 2021 LCI so I don't have to extend the lease or deal with the less negotiable price when the new one comes out.

Question - I'm having a hard time finding 540 inventory. All dealers have very limited stock. The ones I have found the have M Sport all don't have heads up display. Are HUD less popular now because of the live cockpit? I want an M-Sport with Premium Package that includes HUD, but can't find. Don't know if I want to order one just to get it spec'd that way....especially considering that the world is on hold with production right now.

Most BMWs you will find on dealer lots have just the basic packages and options.

There are so many configurations that can be built, so they just tailor them to the masses, and options such as HUD, leather dashboards, etc, are usually left out.

I recently ordered a 330i and the HUD was a must for me after I got it in my M550i. There were maybe 2 cars with HUD available in the area, but not with the color and other options we wanted.

If you are willing to wait, order one spec'd the way you want. The wait will be long as the factories are now closed.
Otherwise you will have to settle on what is available.

Yeah, that's what I wanted to confirm. I wouldn't think that the Premium Package would M-Sport would be a hard combination to find. Was wondering whether the digital instrument panel made the HUD less popular.

I ordered mine and encourage others to do so as well if it is feasible for them. If you can't wait, you can ask your SA to search the country for what you want. Often you can get pretty close that way and your dealership can usually work out a trade/deal with the one that has the car. BUT, you will have to pay the trucking fee to get it from whomever has it to your dealership.

I had ID7/Live Cockpit in a X7 M50i loaner I had from the dealer....I wasn't impressed. You can't really change the displays much.....some of the colors change, but hardly noticeable. The full digital dash display in the G30 definitely allows the most change in terms of the gauge style.

My 2019 M5 doesn't really change either whether it's in sport, eco, etc......but I actually like the white gauges....very classy.

I will say I liked the ID7 in terms of the navigation and Sirius (as it showed the stations with songs, etc. all on one screen and the Navi screen didn't have the menu buttons on the left like the ID6.. To be honest, I just started using CarPlay in my M5 (I didn't use it once when I had my M550i) and I never even use the BMW navi/radio/etc. controls anymore. I just have the Waze or Google Map satellite-view turned on full-screen instead. I didn't realize what I had been missing.
