BM# limiter delete... what's the new top speed?

Does anyone know the likely top speed of a 2018 M550 with BM# stage 1/91, with the limiter deleted? Just curious

The only reference I have as to possible top speed of a m550 is referencing this
https://youtu.be/jteTBvjJaGM
So this is with the 523hp n63 and it achieves 194mph . So same power as a 550 (with the 523 engine) similar weight and slightly larger

Now your car I assume is the 456hp nu63 but you’ve tuned it to a higher figure?

Hope this is of interest

Also how to take the limiter off? Is that via software or a fuse?( I thought I saw a video where someone took the limiter off in a e60 by removing a fuse or similar in the engine bay?. Well hidden )

As far as I know, the only way to remove the limiter on a G30 is with an ECU flash tune. If only it were still as easy as pulling a fuse!

As for the original question, I've seen some posts and videos posted that imply the top speed of an otherwise stock pre-LCI 550i is somewhere in the 175-185 mph range, and may be limited by the transmission.

BM3..

offers the option of removing the limiter when flashing.

This is pure curiosity for me. I hit the limiter on my e39 540/6 in May 1997 on the A92, east of the Munich airport (Euro delivery). I would never dare pressing beyond this now that I am older and wiser, but it is amusing to imagine what 190 +/- might have been like. The tune I mentioned offers higher torque and HP than the stock TU3.

Nice video, although that 187 is on the speedometer, not GPS. The true speed was probably more like 180-182.

That's my car. It's a 2018 M550 modified by Speed Profis in Germany. It was a mild tune to keep the car reliable, well what would be reliable for a BMW. I bought the car while stationed in Germany, US spec, and it's true 182 mph GPS verified. The shop had set my top speed to 320 kph/196mph but something buried in the trans ECU would not let the car go past 300kph/187mph. I'm sure my car would have hit 320kph if the transmission ECU would not have intervened. The performance shop in Germany had a harder time with my car because it's US spec and not European spec. He also did a Alpina mod to my transmission shifting. Side-note, people talk about how powerful the brakes are on the M550 but I can tell you that a hard brake at 170mph plus makes them feel substandard. I'm back in the US now so hitting top speed will most likely never happen again. So the brakes are plenty for the US roads.
