Hello,

I need to replace my 6 years old battery in the engine compartment.
It is a 60Ah 660A made by Varta.

My local shop quoted me over 500€ for the battery replacement and coding so I am probably going to change it myself.

My question is related to the registry of this AUX battery as I was not able to find it in Carly or BimmerLink.

When looking at the negative pole there is no visible IBS so I believe there is no registry required ?
Anybody did it already ? It takes removal of wiper arms to be able remove the cowl cover and then the strut braces and replace with new bolts. Quite a job just for an auxiliary battery.

I don't believe it needs to be registered as it's main purpose is to aid Start-Stop, i believe

Hi AntF33, Can you share the steps to have the front Auxiliaty Battery replaced. I need to replace mine and I am wondering how to make room to retrieve it.

steps :
1 remove wiper arms
2 remove cowl cover
3 remove brace
4 replace the battery
5 install brace with new bolts 56 Nm + 90 degrees
6 install cowl cover
7 install wiper arms
8 register the new battery
