Dealer is closing service until 3/24

I totally get it and everyone’s safety is paramount.

My wife’s car was due for an oil change and now it will have to wait. I hope the lease return isn’t an issue.

She is not going many places these days with the stay at home order. It can travel about 700 miles before it’s past due so it will me close.

Just wish I could make that yellow car go away.

Getting the oil changed or turning in a lease should not be a concern as that is their problem. What are you doing about replacing the car? As I understand it, sales are shut down in most places that have "stay at home" orders in place.

In Ohio, we have stay at home and were one of first states to do it, but dealers and service are still open, as of now.

My local dealer is I think experiencing a big drop in service business. and has shortened service adviser and presumably tech hours. At least my normal SA is now only in on Monday and Tuesday, and another only on Monday and Wednesday. With the reduced hours they are at least still operating. I am hoping to get my dash display fixed next week, but we'll see.--Bob

I just did my oil change at Global BMW 2 days ago and they all violated every covid 19 safety protocool. It was so shocking. The service guy stick his head in my window while I was sitting there in order to read my odometer. Wow.

Been shut in the UK for several weeks now. All lease collections and new car deliveries have also stopped.

My old lease is sat on the drive waiting to be collected.

Just checked my local dealer's website (Knauz) and they have modified service hours to M-F 8 AM to 5 PM and closed on Saturdays. Sales by appointment only and, if desired, demo drop off and pickup for any customers who want to try out a car. --Bob

Just out of curiosity, did you order a C8? Even though I've been out of Corvettes for a few years, I'm still on the forum every day. As someone posted, it was a horrible time to start building the C8. First the strike, now COVID.

Nope. I really am happy with my C7 Z06. Performance is about the same as the C8. The C7 seems to have a lot more room in it than a C8 and I use mine for trips. Have done three 2,500-3,000 mile runs in it. Also I generally want to avoid first year cars; my preference is for later in the model run when early engineering and production bugs have been ironed out. Oh, and another minor reason: in order to get a new C8 I would have to get a new wife. --Bob

I'm surprised service is shutting down, here in Maryland that is technically considered "essential business." Most dealerships in my area are open but they are on appointment only and of course many are offering 0% financing for 84 months, but they are struggling to move cars.

This is my wife vehicle.

I asked for several quotes.

Buy out on current car. Got almost 7k off and they will certify it to extend the warranty for a charge tba.

Price on new lease. Same car 2020 will be 70 bucks a month less and
Will have same equipment plus power tailgate. Issue is lease must be extended 6 months bc factory is closed and new orders are already backed up

All the new dealer cars on the lot are 2019 and none have all the safety stuff I have on her car. So that’s out.

All the available loaner cars do not meet spec.

My sales person left and went to MB a few months back. He is working on a deal for a E300 or E350. Dealer is closed so I cannot drive it and I won’t buy without driving it. I really feel my BMW is solid. I don’t know why I think the equal MB would be more delicate. I feel that way about Audi too. Great driver but too Delicate.

You won't get a better lease rate on an equivalent Merc as BMW leases tend to be cheaper and are heavily incentive. I would reccomend you stick with another 540 lease especially if the payment will be going down which is another added benefit. As a Mercedes owner, I don't think the E350 (2.0T I4) is the way to go, the E450 (3.0TT V6) is much better, however there is a refresh coming soon (although will likely be delayed) which gives it some styling updates inside and out, new tech, as well as Merc's newest Inline 6 + 48V engine, but again, lease rate will likely be much higher, unless your salesman can pull some tricks to get it closer to the 540 lease.

In talking with my friends in service at Knauz BMW, they have cut back hours on service advisers and also have only a few techs in at any given time. Service business is off because many people are just staying at home and not driving enough to generate the normal service business. However yesterday my SA said their appointments were filled up for then and today, so I am taking my 540xi in for a display reprogramming (left shifted/vibrating dash display) next Monday (my SA is only working Monday and Tuesday now) and can get my pick of loaner cars due to the reduced demand. --Bob

in the UK, my dealer is closed as you would expect but service is open on an appointment only basis for key workers only.

Got an issue with my mother, she lives on her own and her Seat's EFB battery has packed up, it won't hold charge and the starter isn't even turning. The local dealership has completely closed even to key workers. Bit worried as she is stranded at home and getting a food delivery is like winning the lottery at the moment.

Luckily she is still within her 3 year warranty and the Seat roadside assist are still working. Failing that I might have to drive the 100+ miles to replace the battery myself.

Here in NC car sales and repair are considered essential. I took the M2 to one dealer for a PPI two weeks ago, and they thanked me for the business - first time ever - not much traffic there. Taking the 540i in tomorrow to another dealer for oil service and fob operation issue, not difficult at all to get an appointment.

I assume that OP had a typo in the thread title and meant to write 4/24.
