I just replaced it yesterday in my 2017 530i G31, without removing the headliner. Just trough the speaker hole. It is small but with some long screwdrivers and the batery taped to one of the screwdriver I replaced it in about 10 to 15 minutes.

I’ve had the same message and if I remove my battery and warm it up it clears for a while so pretty sure it’s the battery. Bought a new one and replaced but this doesn’t clear the message. Had it in the car for a week to see if it needed charging or something but message there permanently. Just warmed my old battery up and swapped and message cleared straightaway.
The part numbers are different on the new battery but they said this was the replacement. Is it possible the new battery is faulty, or as it’s a new battery would the fault need resetting through a computer.

I did a reset. My number is also different. After installing the new one the message was still there. Only after a reset it was gone. But I did the reset shortly after the installation. I didn't wait if it disappears automatically.
If I measure the old one it still had 8V. The new one, probably not completely full had a lower voltage.

Hi,

My G31 started with this a few days ago, I did the same as you to get the battery out via the roof mounted speakers... I also unclipped the roof lining right at the back to help with access. Having no luck finding one online with the part number on my battery 9 361 678 03. Where did you get your replacement from and if you don't mind me asking how much was it?

That’s the same number as on my original battery. The replacement is 84102447710. Bought from Bmw and it was £62.

Seems strange that my original battery will clear the message if warmed up to rejuvenate it a little but the new battery doesn’t do anything.

Update on this puzzle. Went out to the car to remove the original battery and warm it up again to sort of determine it’s the battery, removed the battery and then opened drivers door and no error message appeared even without the battery installed. Fitted the new battery and no error messages.
See what happens in the morning. I thought without the battery installed it should show the error.
Love these cars but these little issues try me

The replacement was 84102447710. I ordered online at a Dutch dealership.
https://bmwshop.ekris.nl/nl/zoeken-o...ch=84102447710
I paid 63.66 Euro. Free delivery in my country.
If you search on 84102447710 you will find several hits.
(BTW. The number you mentioned is the same as the one I removed.)

Perfect, thank you... I've found this one on eBay

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/194908006...mis&media=COPY

It's from a BMW garage in Paignton I think, they've confirmed it fits my model. Funnily enough the error was on my car this morning when it was -7 its now gone at -0.5.

I too am trying to replace the battery from my g30.

The number on my old battery is also 9-361-678-03, however, it seems all the batteries you guys are linking to only have a 330mAh / 2,64Wh capacity, where my old battery was 450mAh / 3,6Wh...?

There also seems to be a few with a production date from 2016..?

Looks like a downgrade but probably isn't. I checked with listers and vines ( bmw dealers) and they confirmed that my vin matched the part number posted.

Since I posted, my error message has come and gone every few days so I’ve not done anything about it yet. Probably a job to tackle over Christmas.

Called at Sandal and got a quote for the part to make sure I order the correct one. It was 84102447710, as said by someone else it’s £52.09 +vat.
For the cost difference I’m not going to shop around and just get it direct from them, that way if there’s any issues with compatibility I can blame them for giving me the wrong part.

I have read on other forums about people having the error message coded out as it wouldn’t clear on its own. Maybe find a BMW specialist and give them a few quid to clear the codes?

Is it wise to order a trim removal tool for the speaker covers or will a screwdriver suffice?

If it’s a saloon then a screwdriver will suffice. Pull down the panel at the rear of the headlining, pull either side of the headlining down ,at the exposed area, clip either side, and if you put your head right back you can see the module. Small terminal screwdriver to unclip the battery which is on the right hand side. Job done.

Called my local dealer here in Oz and they also confirmed that BM-84102447710 is the correct part. However, as they are short on stock they are charging A$240 (132 pounds / US$164).

Does anyone know if the ones they sell on AliExpress are any good..?

Eg: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004948959056.html

Avoid for the same price as uk. No comeback. Anyone can open an old box and put Li batteries in. Not worth risking a car for that. Try shipping from uk. One dealer said they always keep stock. Must be a problem part

I used a plastic tool that I also used for opening a phone. For a G31 open the speaker cover from the car front side, not the back side.
