First service

I brought my newly purchased under warranty m550 in today to get a couple things looked at and they sent me off in a 530.

It's irritating that that happened. I just got this thing and have to bring it in for a warranty item, a broken lumbar.

As a reward for my inconvience I am spending one of my first weekends with aforementioned M550i in a 530.

I think there is a gap there, can anybody else comment on loaner experience?

Best,
Matt

I'd be happy to get a 530. I usually get an X1, X3 or 3-series.

It’s frustrating but they can only give you what they have, especially depending on the length of lead time. I’ve gotten everything from a 740 to an X2.

740
530
330
X6
X3
X2

Honestly, my favorites (aside the obvious 740) have been the X3 and 330.

I’ve owned a 6 series, a 3 series and 5 series in 3 completely different parts of the country.

Every loaner I’ve ever gotten has been a 330i, every time, without fail. First f30’s, when they were new, and then ultimately g20’s.

10-4. I only really asked as I know they have x5 M50i loaners, as I took one home for a night or two during this process from one of the two stores, but almost positive the other one had a handful of "service loaner" x5 M50i vehicles.

No worries just probably hoping I would have something fun over the weekend, since it's gonna be nice and those days are ending in MN.

No knock on 530 owners but that thing is a DOG. It'll be in the garage this weekend and I'll hammer on my Jeep well I still have it.

Thanks as always guys!

Best,
Matt

Hate to be negative to others but I personally agree. I get it if you just need no power and you optioned it up and putted around town. But I’d rather drive the 330i than the 530i. I just think the 4 cyl is too small for that car.

It is the nature of loaners. You won’t get your car and unless you’re poorly optioned you’ll likely get one missing features you have and prefer. Just the nature of it.

If you don’t like the loaner though you can always ask them to swap it. Sometimes they might have something else you’d prefer available.

Thankfully BMW makes cars that fit a variety of owner interests. We can all have what we like.

Loaners, obviously aren’t a guaranteed fit though. As we didn’t order our loaners.

My 530e feels more than adequate.

Totally agree with not everybody needs all the HP. I just to a fault cannot not have around 500 to be happy no matter what I drive, and I drove a ton of them. Benz and Audis version of this m550 is so incredibly unmatched from a power perspective.

Obviously a 5 series anything is much better than basically any sedan out there and I would take the 530 over something similar from Japan or the US 100% of the time.

Just not the 5 series for me.

Thanks,
Matt

If I were lucky enough to get a 330i new model, without a 3 week wait for service, it was good news (according to my SA).
Capitalism is what every Dealership is founded upon. They could care less about you after the sale.

So after dropping it off Friday they updated me yesterday (Monday) and said they had to order a part for the lumbar issue (lumbar deflating after inflating on its own).

He called me this morning telling me the part was in, however they had to drive it 50, yes fifty, miles first according BMW after fixing it, so I won't get it until tomorrow.

Is that normal, to have BMW put 50+ miles on a car after performing a fix like this?

Seems strange, but I am a first timer so I don't know what to expect. Please advise.

Regards,
Matt
