Don’t take this the wrong way the G30 is a spectacular car and I love mine, but personally I prefer my e90 to my G30, but everyone has different priorities. The thing about the G30 is that as a daily for me it is boring as hell. It’s comfortable and I like the styling, but it’s bland.

Take it into the canyons though and it’s surprisingly fun and capable. There’s a spectacular car hidden in there and when you get into the twisty roads, throw it in sport mode and put the transmission into sport mode, the BMW inside comes to life. In daily driving though it does nothing to excite me whereas my E90 was fun 100% of the time no matter how fast or slow I was going or what types of roads I was driving on.

This carbon package looks pretty good but obviously it’s overpriced and adds no performance benefit. It will go over quite well with my tasteless neighbors in Beverly Hills and all the Chinese at UCLA spending their parents money
I get that.

The E90 in default mode is a great car. Mine didn't have sports suspension and the handling was spot on.

My main caveats with the car was the generally harsh ride quality and overall suspension tuning. I believe the E90 was the first 3–Series to come with factory run flats by default and this shows in how the car rides over less than perfect pavement. Perhaps BMW trying to fine tune the suspension against those early generation runflats.

My second caveat was the artificially heavy steering feel. Not to be confused with the communicative nature of the hydraulic setup on that car, but how heavy and tiring was to drive the car at low speeds and mundane parking maneuvers. The heaviness was great at speed not doubt but elsewhere I just didn't care for it.

The run flats were crap. I’m convinced they cause a bunch of the rattled that I had in that car. The run flats really did ruin the ride on the e90 and they were pretty damn loud too. I trashed them within 6 months of getting the car. Michelin Pilot Super Sports made a night and day difference.

The steering was heavy but it didn’t feel artificial to me. They just didn’t use as much boost in the power steering system as they do now. As much as I like the e46, I always felt like the steering in that was artificially light and over boosted. The e90 and e36 feel natural to me.

Run flat has come a long way then, I don't feel my 540 on run flat is bad at all (though I have nothing to compare to)

Runflats today are actually very good. Nothing like the early samples from 15-20 years ago.

Agreed the runflats o my g30 are miles ahead of the ones that came on the e90. They’re good enough to keep but if it weren’t a lease, I’d replace them with pilot sport 4s when they wear out

I don't mind the RFTs either but I have only had the car a month and already had two front tires replaced due to cupping in the tires...
