When will the 5 Series have the new Cockpit?
When I see the new BMW Cockpit in the 3, 7, 8 and X5/X7;I am left to wonder when will it hit the 5 series.
The 5 Series is wonderful because it is large enough to fit 4-5 grown adults. It is a great touring car but when I am ready to step into it - it can haul some serious a#$. I drove the G20 330i and while it lacked the sophistication of the G30, it was more fun and had the newest cockpit. We recently went from a 2015 535xD to a 2019 X3 for practical purposes. But as I now look at our 2nd BMW - I am left wondering - when will the 5 Series start to get the latest and greatest gadgets from BMW?

Lots of topics on this. No real way to tell yet, some say the 2020 lci will have it, some say not.
The reviews I've read of the new iDrive version are pretty lackluster. IDrive 6 is where it's at. |

LCI is MY2021.
2020 may get revised engines with 550 getting the big boost (possibly). Maybe. And there's rumors of a new digital dash for 2020. Idrive 7 and other goodies will likely be held till LCI. Official news should be coming any day now. Usually price and order guides land by 3rd week May.
