Well, It's been a saga but my car is here and I love it.

It was ordered early September 18 and I received it on May 13th. I had the car for about 150km ( 3 hours) before the dash died and the car went back to the dealer to be repaired.

Dealer took two attempts at fixing (replacing) the dash and I picked the car up all ready to go (again) May 2nd.

It's been polished and tinted and ready for some pics

Just about every option available was put on the car. Book price was $210,000 but got it for $151,000 so very happy with the deal. Leased over 5 years with 10% ballon payment.

Yeah. Aust $$$ is not as strong as US$$$ and there is about 10% GST, about 7k stamp duty ( tax) and $17k luxury car tax. So with the weaker dollar and all the tax it's about the same

I don't know why you can't get 4 zone climate there. Does not make sense as the factory can easily do it. Like us here. We can't get the 550i. Only V8 is in the real M5. So that sux. But the 540i moves ok so zero complaints.

Oh dumb on my part didn't realize it wasn't USD, much better than Taiwan then, remember in Taiwan price used to be double pre WTO, think it's still like 1.6 times these days?

I love the colour! It is Mediterranean blue is it? I originally wanted this colour but I bought my 5 series off the lot to what they have in stock and got like the Bluestone metallic (more grey than anything tbh).

How do you find the two rear screens? Do they kind of intrude into the rear passenger space somewhat as the car isn't as big as, let's say, a 7 series?

Happy days Symo. Hope the dramas are behind you now and you get to enjoy a great car. Although the price is steep over here, I think the 5 series is gaining momentum. I was in Melbourne last weekend and saw quite a few G30's around town (far more than up here at least).

and you got the full digital display, which means you can use Bimmercode and get the Alpina display on the gauges, which is so cool...

Yes - I love the Mediterranean blue - its a nice colour and not a "traditional" colour that you would associate with BMW here in Australia - BMW here are mostly black, silver or grey. So hope to cruise about under the radar a bit in that colour and not be cut off or blocked out at intersections just because of its a BMW ( and therefore I am a BMW wanker driver)

The display screens in the rear do not crowd you in any way - my daughter loves them and releases me from the burden of changing radio stations endlessly looking for the right song. Plus its got DVD and TV in the back now as well

Ha Ha ha - I get you. Its a challenge for me when I visit the US and drive too. You get used to it. Given I am back and forth a bit its second nature to me now - either side is easy as you just need remember that the driver sits closest to the centre of the road.

I am impressed with those drivers in Europe though as how they get in one car - drive for some distance and then be able to drive that same car on the other side of the road. that's some skill there.

Yes the 5's are starting to claw some back from the SUV's.

Cant get over the technology in the car - every day I learn something new.

Yeah, maybe I will in time however I'm liking the standard display for now. But I did code Video in motion, auto start stop memory to ON, and removed the start up caution screen so I don't have to tap "yes - im not an idiot" every time I start the car.

Did you use Bimmercode to do that? .. what adaptor did you get if you don't mind me asking?

I actually bought the Vgate wifi version for BimmerCode and the Carly adapter for Carly. So I have both.

I set video in motion using BimmerCode. Easy process. I couldn't kill the nag messages with BimmerCode so I plugged the Carly adapter in and used that to stop the nag messages. While playing in there I saw the option to get auto start stop to remember last setting and I did that as well.

If you like I'm happy to loan the adapters to you but you will need buy the apps. Unless your driving to Melbourne??? 🤔

Shame that Bimmercode/Vgate combo didn't do the lot. I still have a Bluetooth OBD2 module.. I wonder if that works with Bimmercode.

I think the app will let you know if it's supported? Attached is a screenshot of the setup page of Bimmerpost. Failing that the OBDII adapter are not expensive items.

yep, about $80 on amazon for the OBD I use.
