M550i 0-60 Launch Control vs Normal Driving

I've just been curious and haven't been able to find an answer- so I apologize in advance if this was easily missed...

BMW's 0-60 quote on the M550i of 3.9 I believe... is this using launch control? Or is this without launch control ie normal driving? With LC is it faster than 3.9?

My car seems fast- plenty fast! And I don't plan to try to clock the 0-60 time. I'm just curious how it stacks up without doing the LC routine (which I don't plan on using with any regularity).

BMW's performance figures are loose. Best to look at car mags to see some performance numbers, mots of which also detail the track conditions and car settings.

I feel like using LC and doing same action with traction control all the way off and power braking brings rpms to same level before launch and to feels the same. Pre loading gas peddle with brake presses definitely is faster launch than just slamming foot on the gas

My first drive (had M4 at the time) of the M550i was using Launch Control for the drag race portion of the M Driving Experience at COTA in Austin. I couldn't believe how fast it launched, without wheelspin. Incredible! Have loved it ever since, and now the M4 is history and I have one. Will I ever launch mine......unlikely!

The M3/4 are not the greatest launch from a dig cars. Especially the ‘Verts with the extra 500 pounds they haul around. That being said I got a 4.0 with my old DCT M4 and a 3.8 with our M550. So not a huge difference, but very impressive for as big/heavy of a car the M550 is. But, the M4 ‘Verts were 4.4ish on a good launch so I can see why it was a bigger difference for you.

OP, as has been said any type of LC, either the official or manual way will get much better results than just regular driving/flooring it.
