Auto stop / Auto Start functionality
So on my wife’s 2017 530i x drive when you turn the system off it stays off unless you manually turn it back on. Is this how the 2019 vehicles operate ? I sure hope so.
Thanks for the reply’s. I have a 540 on order but I’m sure all the 5 series work the same way. Right ? Appreciate your responses. |

Unfortunately not. BMW changed this due to EPA regulations in 2018 I believe. Bimmercode will give you the ability to activate the 'memory' functionality of that feature though!

I tried to get this coded to "last position used" using BMW software, but it was not possible due to EPA, as has been said. I chose not to code with bimmercode, for my own reasons. Now, I just consider it a First World problem, and have solved the issue by just teaching myself to hit the start button, and then immediately hit the ASS Off button beneath it. Doesn't take long to get used to doing that. It also goes off if you move your gear selector over to the left, into Sport mode for the transmission, even if you are in comfort mode, which I use a lot.

In the UK, we've had this behaviour since it was introduced on the F10.
No official way to getting round it, have to go the coding route. one option you can do is to set up the sport individual mode with the settings of you the car you prefer. The bonus being that as its a sport mode, ASS is off by default so with the press of one button, you have the car set up as you wish. |

Not a problem any longer for me either. It took me a few days to train myself the new way of starting a car: push two buttons instead of one. A small price to pay for being able to get a vehicle with twin turbocharged 4.4 litres V-8 and some 500 HP on the crankshaft.

It is enabled by default on most 2018+ BMW's. Use BimmerCode to either disable iit or set it remember last setting. Remember that you have to be in diagnostic mode without the engine running to make changes to this module.

It's one of the key items I've coded on every BMW I've owned since 2009. My 1,2,3 and now 5 series have all had the memory option enabled.
I detest start/stop. It makes driving in slow traffic incredibly unpleasant and I'm sure it puts excessive wear and tear on the starter and transmission components.
