Have I got a gift thrown in with my M550 order ?

Last Friday I finally took possession of my 2019 M550i, and I was pleasantly surprised by these two items I had not expected to get:

(1) A spare tire kit although the tires are of a "run on flat" type (Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrical 03). Granted, the available cargo space depth is significantly reduced, but still ample for our needs.

(2) Rubber floor mats which are very nice, and perfectly suitable for all but our winter weather in Toronto. I was not expecting anything more than some usual carpet mats.

Anybody else cares to share their experience in this regard ? Am I really that special to BMW ?

well, I had to pay my rubber floor mats for sure, really odd you get the spare tire kit given you have run flat, thought you can always just take it out and store elsewhere (or sell for $$$ given how ridiculous it is to buy afterwards)

It's going the opposite way: I am selling run-on-flat summer tires tat came with the car, since I bought Continental A/S non-RFT DWS 06 tires as an all year round solution for my M550.

Did you get carpet mats too? If not, I wonder if the goodies are a Canada thing? different countries get different stuff, after all.

Good idea. The Goodyear F1 Assy3 are horrible tires.

Swapping for NRF's

Anyone swapped out their RT's for NRF's. My 540D xdrive M sport came equipped with RF tires. Also came with a spare. I hear conflicting reports, that the suspension is tuned for RF's (heavier and stiffer sidewall) and that swapping for NRF's takes away from the driving experience as per BMW techs). My G30 has DHP if it matters. Currently have the Goodyear Eagle ROF and thinking of moving to Michelins. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Yes, the carpet mats came unopened in their bag, stowed in the trunk. I have re-read the BMW Canada specs and features for 2019 M550. They list carpet mats, but there is no mention of rubber mats nor a spare tire kit.

Even if that is true, my gut feel tells me we are talking a minute suspension response variation which is probably one order of magnitude smaller than my performance sensing/using ability. In other words, even if real, I suspect the issue is largely of only "theoretical" significance for our day-to-day driving.

You either got a nice gift...or someone made a mistake and there's another new owner that's a bit miffed that they didn't receive their rubber mats and spare tire kit.

Until a couple of years ago my dealership used to give a $500 gift certificate for each new car purchased. So these could be the dealership just makng its customers feel good about their purchase.

I don't mean to state the obvious, but check your window sticker again. Just to make sure you didn't pay for those items

The 540 I leased had the winter mats on the sticker. Fine by me since they're only 43% of retail, residualized. Not free, but a decent "deal" for nice mats.

Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics are much better than the RFTs which came on my 2014 E350, which also came with a spare, but I switched that car to Michelin A/S3+ as soon as I could, and have never regretted it, that is a fantastic all season tire. My 2019 M550i will be changed to Michelin PS4S as soon as the Goodyears wear out. I have no spare, and am not worried about that. I think the stuff about suspension tuning is just BS. Can't wait to corner with the PS4S!

I have indeed double checked my purchase agreement as well as car specifications including all the packages.....nowhere could I see the rubber mats nor the spare tire kit.

I am inclined to believe that my "gifts" are a result of some sort of a mixup in the factory.
Normally, in any modern car, run flat tires and a spare tire kit are mutually exclusive: either one or the other, but not both.

It had to be on the build order. They don't install those at the dealer.

FYI, you can order a spare tire kit with the vehicle regardless of wheel/tire combo that is chosen although some options require it.
