Hi all,

Fitted a decat to my 540i today, car already had the MPE which was very much lacking in sound. The decat has transformed it and sounds perfect now, I’ve also added bootmod stage 2. In sports plus now the car sounds so aggressive with loads of burbles and back firing! I have a couple of vids but how do I upload them?

Did you do the work yourself? If so, how tough was it?

I've only seen the videos on the F30s so I'm curious about the route I take when I install the down pipe that is collecting dust in my garage.

No a garage did it. Took him about 3 hours as he had some trouble with a bolt and he also took the exhaust down a bit

Easy enough to do yourself if you got some basic mechanical skills. I was stuffed around by the shop that I'd picked initially to do the install and ended up doing it myself without ramps. Just jack up front right side and use some supports or a platform so you can squeeze under the car. There's some tips I wish I'd known beforehand, but certainly doable.

Which decat downpipe did you go for? I have the MPPSK on my 540i and it’s a tad too quiet

Williams performance, it's a U.K. brand however I don't think there's much difference between them. I'm loving it tho it sounds so aggressive in sports plus mode esp when you let off the accelerator

I installed one last week on my 540. It took me four hours on rhino ramps with a basic set of mechanics tools. I have stock exhaust

What difference did it make to the sound of the stock exhaust?

I installed a MAD Catless DP from X-PH. It took me 1.5 hrs by myself with a simple ratchet set. The rest of my exhaust system is OEM. You can definitely hear the turbo spool. I have Bootmod3 stage 2 91ACN on right now, the burbles are a little louder, but the OEM muffler does a really good job suppressing the sound. I would say the sound is nice if you're trying to stay low key.

Hi, I have a stock exhaust with Res Delete, I want to do a decat since its much cheaper than a sports cat, could you tell me if you have any smell in the cabin at all when starting the car or driving it. Thanks

You said that you fitted a Decat downpipe as you are in the UK this would fail MOT due to emissions. How did you get around this ?

It will definitely fail emissions, i guess he has a decat friendly MOT place he goes to

I passed NYS inspection with catless downpipe. Got a spacer installed and it worked. Not sure if would be the same results on your end.
