Alarm?
I am struggling with what to do about a car alarm(if anything)? Should I go the OEM route or is there a better, cleaner option out there. I don't want allot of extra's and I do prefer a cleaner look when it comes to this stuff if possible.
Thanks,

Oem is the easiest option. I installed a viper 5904 about a year ago and I'm happy with it. The remote start is convenient and the remote works nearly a mile away. It's not too complicated of an install using the dlpk and kibmw.

I went the OEM route, but my MY2009 was not pre-wired so the install was pretty pricey (5 hrs at the dealer). I was going to do the install myself and just have the dealer code it, but I got as far as 'remove the A pillar and airbag and simply replace any broken plastic clips" in the installation manual before I decided it wasn't worth the 8 or so hours it was going to take me, getting the headliner halfway down was annoying enough.
Instructions here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=326453 pre-wired version: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1487 If you are pre-wired, the kit is ~$300 from Tischer; if you're not pre-wired the kit is still ~$300 but you have to order it from Germany and either install it yourself or find a willing dealer. |
