What size M badge for rear(trunk) should I purchase?
What size M badge do I get for my 540i xdrive. I have a M-sport package. The car had a sport m mode and I want to get the badge because the 3 series with m-sport styling packages have them now.

You shouldn't put on an M badge because you don't have an M550.
Get an M Sport license plate holder or the M logo valve stem caps but don't up badge your car when it doesn't rate. The 3 series you are referring to are not normal M Sport models like yours and mine, they are the M340 with additional bits added by BMW. |

I wouldn't put an M badge on the back either, but its your car, and your choice.
The European spec 5 series cars have small M badges above the side vents on the front fenders. Maybe go for that? |

A piece of different advice based on a post above...do NOT put on metal valve stem caps, EVER! Trust me...I did it with our Land Rover and after a year or two they seized to the stems...could not get them off. I actually used a plier, thinking it was come off...nope, ripped off the entire valve stem. So again, don't install those...

Wow... good to know about the metal stem caps as I just recently put some e-bay ones on. I guess if I'm gonna keep them a bit of WD40 from time to time is in order. And I live where everything metal rusts quickly.

For what it's worth, I've been using the BMW OEM valve stem covers on the 3 for many years, and now the 5. Never had an issue in hot or cold weather.
And I agree, no 'M' badge unless it's actually an honest to goodness ///M |

Well it's your car, I put an M badge on my 540i. But I used the m550i badge and an m340i badge and used what I needed.
Everyone on the forums will say, "The people who don't know it's not a real M don't care, and the people who do know what M is will think you're a poser." Like I said, it's your car and your money. Put that M badge on and watch everyone bitch and complain. |

It is your car, so do what you won't. But in all honesty, it's just a bad look to upbadge a car. I see it all the time with MBs and their AMG badge. I'm sorry, but its just laughable. I'd recommend not doing it.

Agreed. De-badged my 2022 540xi, removed the "Porsche" from my GT4, and debating if I should also remove the Macan GTS and just leave the Porsche logo that is in the light bar on my 2021.

There are so many bits of trim you can add inside & out to give it that individual look, so please for the love of god, don't cringe it out with an M badge in front of 540i. There's only M550 and M5 variants.
It's laughable with an air of desperation when you're behind a car and the model number reads M520d, or worse M530e. If you do go through with it, know you'll cause a few accidents from everyone driving behind you pissing themselves blind. |

Mine had those from factory. It's a reminder of your M-Sport trim, subtle but nice. One of them fell off the other day when I was washing the car and had to stick it back. I'm not sure I would add them if the car didn't have them originally but in the end is a subtle and OEM looking update for the car.
