30whp seems like the max B48 can take with ecu chip tuning.
RAPID chip also released their product, and quite a few members are getting 30whp gain as well.

which is not bad at all for under $1000 investment.
Although i was hoping it could hit 300hp (not whp) with the chip..

Never chipped a car before but that doesn't seem like much - is a 30hp increase (from a base value of what, 260hp) is even noticeable?

Yes, very noticeable. More so if you only had 260bhp to begin with. I can notice on a car with 300+ bhp.

Or to put another way, if you can't notice, you don't need the extra power.

30whp increase, you are bound to feel it. If you don't, then you shouldn't drive a bmw.

530i is putting down anywhere from 220 ~ 230 at the wheels. Chip will get you somewhere around 250~260. I've seen 265 on premium gas mapping today.

It doesn't feel much down low, but difference truly shows on the highway or when the RPM goes above 3000rpm.

Just an update, people are hitting 270~275whp with 700 dollar chip tuning without other modifications. Simple bolt-on.

That puts us into a slightly slower 540i stock range. Just FYI.

Does the b48 from the 530e and the 530i net the same end hp?

In the EU we also have a 520i, as far as I can see , the 520i , 530e and the 530i has the same engine. But what is the difference ? just tuned down for the 520i and 530e ?
Or does the 530i have som different parts to get more power?

I have my 2018 530i now for 4 months and have have tried 2 different tunes. First I had the JB+. It was set at 4 pounds of extra boost and took about 30 seconds to install. I liked it. You can definitely feel the difference.

But then I had the chance to pick up the dinan sport tune. I am liking this tune a lot more than the JB+. It took 5 minutes to install because it plugs into an extra sensor and I zip tied the wires to hide them. It has Bluetooth so you can switch between different boost pressure settings and even has a built in boost gauge in the app. Although it supposedly only increases boost by 4 pounds, it feels substantially stronger and smoother than the JB+.

Luckily I got a 430 GC for the wife so I put the JB+ in her car.

When I get bored, I'll try the JB4 and possibly the Active Autowerke tunes.

So far I'm very happy with the Dinan tune.

no. The 530e b48 is detuned to 180 HP whereas the 530i comes with 248 HP.

I sent an email to Terry to confirm

FWIW, for those with the 530e, I've received confirmation from Terry that both the JB+ and JB4 B48 tunes will work on the 530e. I'm excited to try these out.

I contacted Dinan and they said their tunes are not compatible with the 530e, so there's that.

Why would one work and not the other...seems fishy or one is right and other wrong

I agree. Either they both should work or neither should. I trust Terry and BMS; I'm figuring it's bc Dinan is a partner of BMW's and they don't want to run afoul of them.

I bought a JB+ to test it out. Will post my impressions. I know there's another forum member who's been running the JB+ on his 530e for the past 3-4 months without issue.

Anyone have experience with Dinan Sport vs. Stage 1?

Seriously considering Stage 1 but haven't seen much feedback

Post JB+ Experience

Ok guys - I just installed the JB+ on my 2018 530e this evening. I was a bit nervous but I saw that this will go only in one of the map connectors and was also worried if I fitted it losely but it came out to be a snug fit. Also, I don't think the engine would have fired if I had connected it losely so all is good. I also maxed out the psi level all the way clockwise to the right (5 o-clock).

So then I took her for a spin up and down the hills, about 10-12 Miles round trip, and quite frankly, didn't notice much of a difference. I had gauged with the sport displays before the JB+ and it had tapped out at 240/300 and I had similar results after the JB+, maybe around 250/310. I drive efficiently most of the time so flooring the gas l is not what I do usually but I did most often in my "test drive" post JB+ installation, but it didn't go past 245-250ish.

Is there a break in and learning period for the JB+? Am I going to feel the difference on the freeway when I pass other cars? Tell me more ...

Getting the same with my 530e JB+. I thought it was working because technically the motor is supposed to be 180hp, but mine is also exactly 240/300. So if that's what you got when stock then that is strange.

Apparently the Sport Displays will always max out at 240/300 as it is not programmed for stock to show more than that. I think the best way to really tell is to drive with and without it.
