I'd love to know this, as well. Mine is loose just from flipping it up one time to see how it works.

Out of curiosity, have you talked with your BMW dealer parts folks? Maybe they can help. My guess is that more than once the service department has probably had to replace a customer's cover. --Bob

Look up the part number on Bimmercat.com or RealOEM.com and then order it from:

ECS Tuning
Turner Motorsports
Bavauto
FCP Euro
GetBMWparts
Bimmerworld
BMWpartspros

I found a set of 4 on eBay https://www.ebay.com/itm/401896807954

Looking at RealOEM it looks like those roof rails come together as 1 piece, left and right, possibly. It does not provide part numbers for those flaps specifically. When looking for them on Google, only eBay products come up.

Yup, they are indeed 1 piece and come with the entire rail. That ebay listing is probably your best bet and the cheapest option.

So dumb that, of course, you have to buy the whole thing. If you really wanted to, you could probably give the unpainted and primed part number to IND Distribution and they'd order it, paint it to match, and ship it to you. You could find a local shop to paint it cheaper (maybe) but I can vouch for IND's paint match on my front reflectors I bought from them.

Right?! With how common these little flaps are and how easily they break, you'd think BMW would be able to sell the individually.

Has anyone had any luck fitting the f10 versions port covers that can be found on ebay?

I can't find any g30 covers, but the price of replacing the entire rail for a tiny bit of broken plastic just seems ridiculous.

Hit up a salvage yard and pull a few. Even if they want you to take the whole rail, it's got to be pretty cheap.

It’s a huge pain in the ass. They should either make it a standalone part or make it more sturdy. Makes you never want to even use it. I opened the tabs just to see how it worked on my 540 and almost broke one. I don’t plan on ever touching them on the 550.

I asked the parts guy at my dealer and he said that Thay don’t sell them and that I would have to buy the whole trim piece that goes from the windshield to the back window for like $400 per side and it would have the caps already installed

One of mine is gone as well. Just wondering if anyone has any success getting the cover without getting the entire roof railing? Mine is Black Sapphire & I'm assuming there is no difference between 530 540 or M550i right?

Someone should 3D print these. They would make a killing.

The other hard part is that they're color match, so you would have to get them painted. A durable, 3D-printed repair kit would be amazing tbh.

Yup, similar to the tow hook cover on each bumper, the replacement would have to be painted, but if you’re extra entrepreneurial, you could offer them up painted like IND.
