I went through this process with a 330e. Getting BMW to agree to buy it back was a hassle (perhaps my letter threatening suit and pointing out that I am a retired litigator might have helped here). Once BMW agreed to buy it back, it was a terrific experience and painless.

BMW made me an offer of a price to account for my usage to that point. I thought it was a very fair offer and accepted it.

I decided to get a 530e to replace it and BMW agreed to wait while I ordered one which would add a couple of months to the process and BMW agreed without decreasing the buy back process for my additional miles. The only thing they asked for was an order number.

Incidentally, my 2018 530e was rock solid with one exception. Toward the end of the fourth year it was in for routine maintenance and I asked them to check the battery pack as my estimated distance had been falling from 14-18 to 10-11. They tested the battery pack and found a bad cell and replaced the entire battery pack.

I decided to go full electric and traded it in in December for a Genesis GV60 BEV.

I assume that if you want a refund check, it will also be a good process but since I didn't go that route, I can't really say. Maybe someone else who opted for a refund can give you some info on that alternative.

IJf you can stand the bugs bunny grille, the I4 is an interesting alternative. Car & Driver just did reviews on the M4 and one on the M3. Interestingly, they loved the M3 but not the M4 and said that the I4-50 was a better driver than the M4.

I've had experience with a CPO and a dealer not fixing the issue after 5-6 tries and BMW NA was useless.

Sorry for the bad news.

Damn.. why would the dealer say I will be repurchased then? I’ve only had the car for 8 months.. don’t get what the point of CPO is then lol

Thank you for the info! Sounds like BMW’s hybrids aren’t doing well. Weird thing is the dealer and NA BMW keep saying there is no fix…

If they said they are buying it back then ride it out and see what they offer up. Make sure the 8 months you had it results in reasonable depreciation from what you paid.

I guess I am confused on where you are at in the process.

Yea so I brought in my car 3 times. The manager from the dealer said that he sent in a repurchase claim for repurchase, BMW NA denied it saying they will reconsider if they get another service on file, so I brought it back again and now they are reconsidering the claim again.

So only dealer said repurchase . I’m not sure what is going on haah.

Thank you again !

Not always. I went through a buy back process with BMW on a 2016 330e. Getting BMW to agree to buy back was a challenge although once it did it was very good on the actual buy back process.

I went into the dealership with two letters: one to the GM of the dealership and the other to BMWNA initiating the Arizona lemon law process. The service manager told me he agreed with me and asked me to give him an hour to try to move BMW.

An hour later he called me back and said that BMW has agreed to the buy back.

Yeah, the dealer jumped the gun. They aren't buying your car back, they should have told you they would support the claim, not tell you it was a done deal.

BMW NA is tough on a car that old. They are more likely to buy back a new car after 6 months to a year than a 3-4 year old CPO.
