Great thread!

Booze - vodka
Wine - Caymus
Cigars - shorties when golfing. Left my humidor behind with the divorce

One of my favorite pastimes is trying every steakhouse I can. There is not a major city chain I have not been to. In that space, I'd have to say Del Frisco's is my favorite. Capital Grill is also a safe bet in any city.

Locally, Boston proper, Abe and Louis. Try it if in town. Davios is a local chain in Boston and the surrounding burbs and also a good take. If you are in Boston, try Abe and Louis for sure. In terms of cuts, I never had a steak I didn't like. If I'm watching my weight, Filet. If not, anything with some fat on it. Love Veal Chops as well.

Brought the meat wagon in to get in-opt sunroof fixed. They gave me a 530 loaner with the active cruise control or wtf it's called, thing is awesome. Dare I say I'm looking toward to traffic tomorrow?! I'll have to peel back some option on next lease to get this package. That's assuming bmw doesnt bring that massive grill tirade to the 5series.

It's a great feature, in my opinion. From reading the forum, people either love it or find it completely unnecessary for them. Varies by person.

I finally got a call that my 540 should be ready tomorrow. That's 8 days for an appointment for ambient light strip and A/C fix. The rear sunshade has been getting stuck but they can't find the part - To be addressed when they get it in. Ready to get out of this 330 loaner!…. Hopefully they don't see/make a big deal of the pot hole scrape under the bumper. Either way, I'm ready to get back in the comfortable 5 and out of the rock hard 3.

ACC is a must.

I wasn't looking for the ACC when we bought the 2019. The car had my other must-haves so I figured what the heck, I'll probably never use it. Boy was I wrong! That feature is pretty sweet in traffic! The only down side (and I just turn it off when I do this) is when I change lanes too soon for the system; it doesn't do time-&-distance as fast as I do. Other than that, it's probably a must-have for me now. The lane keeping is another thing. I could mostly take or leave that.

This is exactly what I was talking about. It's an interesting option to me because some think it's useless and some love it. And even those who love it will have opposite opinions of what they love about it. I like the traffic assistance part but the lane keeping + ACC on a long boring interstate drive is my favorite part.

It's funny how spoiled we get. I remember when cruise control just locked in the speed with no way to increase or decrease the speed with your hands. A touch of the brake or gas kicked you out.

Then came the accelerate and coast controls on the stalk or steering wheel. Now it's ACC. It's so much more useful in traffic with cars varying speed where if you didn't have it you would be constantly messing with the dial to the point you may as well turn it off and use gas and brake.

Combine self steering with ACC and it's huge. I use both together all the time for both ACC and Stop and Go.

I just want to say how much I appreciate my 540, today. After driving in a 330 for over a week, it was like sitting in a cloud when I got back in mine.

I've now had a chance to pretty fully test out a 7, a 5 (mine), and a 3 in the last few months. What they say is correct - the 5 is a mini 7. The 3 is in a whole other universe. It's a go kart with a brick for a seat. I'm not even saying that's bad, because it's a fun little car. But for me, give me the 5 every time.

It's always nice to drive something inferior for an extended period of time and then get it back. Makes you appreciate it all over again.

I found the same with the 3-series. It's really uncomfortable. The seats are hard as bleachers. It does handle much better than ours but that's not rocket science, it's smaller and more nimble with almost no body roll. I wish the G30 had less body roll but it comes with the territory being a heavy luxury car.

I drive my E39 Monday through Thursday and the M550 Friday through Sunday, whether permitting. The E39 is the same size as the current 3-series G20. It does handle much better than the M550 and it's 19 years old. So getting into the M550 on Friday does accentuate the body roll, but the power and technology really stand out.

Joe -

On hiring out for chores (in this case the yard)… I agree with what you said. Goes from being a stress relieving activity to a stress inducing chore. It's to the point that I'm getting in trouble with the wife because I've got to be in the yard for two hours.

I'd rather take the hour on Saturday morning to wash our cars and let my kid spray the foam cannon.

But I'm no dummy… I made sure we found some help cleaning inside before I went looking for the outside help! If I didn't, I foresaw the yard time turning into mop and duster time - no thanks!

Yep, same here. Every Thursday Sonia cleans and my GF is happy.

When I was married, I lived south of Boston where houses are built with some distance and privacy and the yards are big. Definitely a landscaper for that house as it would take a few hours to mow the lawn and trim.

Got divorced, moved into Boston and lived on Beacon Hill. Nothing to there but walk to work. Had a cleaning lady come every few weeks. Eventually met someone from North of Boston and four years later I moved into her rented house and shortly after that we bought a house. North of Boston is congested. Houses are close together and yards are small. The value is double of South of Boston, which I don't understand. But anyway, smaller yard, I said, hell, I can mow this lawn. Should take me 20-30 minutes. Bought a whole setup. Lasted one season.

Pretty much all I do around the house is clean my cars change light bulbs and vacuum the pool.

That sounds like something I'd do. I almost bought some better/newer equipment last year but held off. Glad I did! I feel zero guilt looking to hire it out.

If I ever move to Boston, I'll make a mental note to look South of Boston. I probably never will. But I do love that town. Been a couple times. Really cool place. I'm an SEC football guy. When I went to a Red Sox/Yankees Sunday night game in Fenway a few years ago (2018), I remember thinking that the atmosphere in and out of the stadium was just as exciting/energetic as a football Saturday down here. That says a lot. Fenway is a cool place. Been once as a kid and once as an adult. Everyone should go at least once.

Professional sports are pretty intense here. People are really passionate, including myself. We are very lucky to have four teams that are always in the mix. We are super spoiled to have the Patriots and six superbowl wins.

Boston is a really cool town. If your ever here, definitely give me a heads up.

I ended up selling all the lawn equipment I bought, lol. Mower, weed wacker and blower. Of course I have a diesel blower for my car though 😀

Anyone have any issues receiving directions from mybmw app to car nav? Couple different occasions I've "successfully" sent the directions from the app but when I get into the car, nav says it cannot retrieve, any tips?

"You're young. You'll make more money. "

That's the attitude young man.

This was what I lived by every time I was on the edge of buying something I probably couldn't afford. Busted my ass, so it all worked out. At 56, income is still going North, made more money last year than any year in my life. At some point I'll put myself out to pasture. Having the finer things in life has always been my motivation since I was a kid. The person with the most toys wins 😂🤣.

Newly hired yard man just finished week 1. Kind
of an odd feeling. But now I get to wash the cars. 😁

Figured this would be a good place to start with like minded anal retentive people. Looking for a new watch wrist band I can wear in the summer and not ruin the leather one I have now. I came across "rubber b" brand, $300 for vulcanized rubber. Can someone explain to me wtf am I missing and why some ground up tires should cost $300?

I like the rubber offering from these guys for my apple watch, not sure what kind of watch you are looking for a band for. Pretty much my Apple watch is my daily driver. A watch like my Breitling Bentley is reserved for nights out. Even with that watch, when it needed a new band, the replacement from Breitling was like $600 for a black leather band with white stitching. I found the same no-name band a the jewelers building in Boston and moved over the Bentley hardware/clasp.

Any professional Golf fans out there? What's your take on LIV golf and the PGA defection to it? Heard some interesting comments from Sir Charles (Barkley) this morning. Scroll down to The Recount Twitter video embedded.

I've been known to get as obsessive over golf as we do over cars. I've been getting into doing all my own club work, etc. I love golf.

I don't watch a lot of golf because of family activity and spending my free time to actually play golf on the weekend. But I keep up.

I think the LIV disruption will change how people make decisions. It's hard to predict the end result. Way too early. The Saudis have the money to keep this disruption up. The question will be if they can get the club manufacturers into the team aspect and will people watch. They can pump money in, but sponsors need to see value in giving dollars to LIV players. I think the supply of big names to poach will shrink considerably after this introductory stage. It will become about the younger, up and coming talent and which direction they choose to go. Also, will the world golf rankings accept the LIV tour? That's where the Majors come into play. Still a lot of questions out there.

It's an interesting development in golf and also a very interesting case study for business.
