Based on the list of compatible OBDs, which would you recommend? Does one offer a benefit of the other? Also, I use an Android phone and I know list could be sorted between iPhone and Android users.
All of the adapters listed are quality. I've used the OBLink CX with no issues but I upgraded to the MHD Black which is Wifi and far superior in terms of speed and stability. The only reason I switched was because I wanted to use another coding tool that only worked with MHD which works with Bimmercode too.
Not sure if this is a dumb question but do using any of those void warranty? Are the changes you make even visible to the dealer?

I'd be interested in turning off the auto start/stop without needing to press the button every time… but don't really want to dive into anything that may be frowned on by the service techs just yet
Not a stupid question. No, nothing you can do with Bimmercode will void the warranty. Now, if you mess up something coding and can't seem to get it back, the dealer will charge you to recode it if you tell them you did it. But no, it won't void the warranty. Pretty much what you are coding is options in the BMW software. There are no "hacks" with coding, just turning switches on or off by design.

Something like killing auto stop start is a piece of cake. Something the dealer could do for you for $150 bucks.

Hope this makes sense. Stay in simple mode in Bimmercode and you have nothing to worry about.

So my girlfriend is also type A, not nearly like me. So we are having people over for a pool/BBQ day. We literally get all sun on our deck and she's been wanting an umbrella. She finds one on Marketplace and sends me to pick it up. The base is four squares that can be filled with water or sand.

I pick it up at an apartment building close by, a nice one with big decks. The base pieces are filled with 75 lbs of sand each. Probably a good thing because I didn't have to, but let's just say it was a lot of trips taking it off her deck and then onto mine. It's friggin HOT here.

She's a pain in the ass, but she's really good at completing a home.

Umbrella (and deck) look awesome! Great find on marketplace. Heatwave down here in NJ too. I frequent the Boston area a few times a year to visit friends from college. Some very good breweries in MA that I enjoy visiting on those trips.

How far are you from the city?

I don't think so but I'm also a noob myself. I know the app makes a backup of the original settings as well as subsequent changes made so that if something goes wrong, it can be restored. Whether BMW can tell if it was ever modified or not and void a warranty, I am not sure.

There are a lot of great breweries here for sure. Tree House is a real popular one.

I'm about a 15 minute drive into the city. Maybe 8 miles.

Enjoyed a can of King Jjj today :-)

That's great - I always look forward to a trip up to Boston. I'll be on the look out for a modded m550 next time I'm up there

Let me know when you're in the area. We can grab an IPA, maybe a double.

Breweries...as I digress

The two new top careers in 2022.

1. YouTube influencer
2. Open a brewery

I just saw on the news this morning that companies are starting to move to a 4 day work week to get the gen Z'rs to come to work. They are having issues recruiting the Young'un's. They should serve cupcakes and ice-cream too. Every company will have hot air balloon & go cart rides and a petting zoo ...

Joking aside, I'm actually good with the 4 day work week though...if you're still putting in your 40. It will be a good quality of life booster. I'm just pissed they didn't do this 30 years ago.

Don't get me started. The hallways of my company will never be the same. I have had to reluctantly go to a 100% flexible home/work office posture. I bring in free lunch a few days a week to get people to come in.

So pre-covid I had the millennials and the gen-z's all wanting promotions and more money just for doing their time and not out performing, to buying them milk and cookies to show their face.

Luckily we haven't skipped a beat. I learned a thing to two as well. I never stopped coming into the office for one minute during COVID, but I have become more relaxed about "if you are working from home, you ain't workin". (this coming from the President who sits on the internet all day talking cars, lol, but trust me, I did my time and earned it!!)

It's here to stay. The work ethic that made me successful is history. If you are a woman of color, you are fucking golden even if you are a lazy idiot.

The argument for 4 day work weeks is that you can probably get a full week's work in by day 4, if you're motivated to be efficient. I 100% believer that to be the case, on average.

The problem is that eventually people will do as much screwing around in the 4 days as they do 5, and you won't get the work done. But by then it will be entrenched.

Here's the great thing - if you're young and you don't mind coming to work and getting the job done, your value is only going up.

I'm 37, by the way.

I'll stop from myself from going on a diatribe about todays workers in general and the mindset they have. I've torn through enough wet Kleenex's to grab a good amount of excellent workers. The workers from the """"great resignation""""" will reap what they sow in the coming months when the big ugly turnover machine gets started. Hate to see it happen but they went chasing the dollars and didn't plant deep enough roots to not be some what expendable.

I was sued by one of those idiots, she was a senior mgr working for me. My name dragged through shit for 9 months, my operation and myself being investigated by the EEOC. That was unnerving to say the least. Not only was she worthless, she was extorting money from her employees to ensure they remained employed. I never heard of such a thing in modern times in a corporate setting. I wasted my time gathering all this smoking gun evidence and brought it to corporate counsel. They just said terminate her without cause, we don't need to prove anything in court, NY was an employment at will state. I got sued anyways. After the investigation, the EEOC representative shook my hand and said sorry you had to go through this. The complaint was dismissed. All from bullshit accusations. I should write a book. So many war stories.

I have always operated on a level playing field basis. You knock it out of the park for me and I could give two shits what the color of your skin is, male or female or who you like to fuck. It is a meritocracy and that's how I manage and reward or punish. What is unnerving, especially in this cancel culture we are in, is how easily people try to pull the woman card, the racist card, the LBGQT card to extort you into moving them along by claiming they are treated unfairly.

Now don't get me wrong, there are some douche bag, sexist, racist, homophobes out there that certainly discriminate. I have never been one of them but I have had been pull those cards and try to extort undeserving rewards. No fucking way. I give feedback, I document it, I tell people exactly what they need to do to get to the next level and I also tell people what they are doing wrong and if you don't turn it around, you will be terminated. I give them time to do it with a performance plan.

Employee at Will means nothing when it comes to people filing grievances. Most companies want to avoid this from a reputational perspective, so they write a check and make them sign that they won't. I personally do give terminated employees an option to sign the separation agreement and get a check or don't sign it and don't get a check.

You are right though, at the end of the day, the employee always loses unless there is something egregious going on.

I'm just like yourself, I don't care if you're purple or have a 2ft long nose ring hanging off your nose. It's all about how you perform. I've been around the block, and I can honestly say that I never personally witnessed racism or "white supremacy" in the corporate arena. Never...not even close.

And I agree that you package out people fairly, have them sign the separation agreement and everyone goes on their separate ways happy. That one company refused to let me do that....the CEO was a pompous Orthopedic Neurosurgeon Harvard Lawyer...always looking for a fight.

Welp, I've held out long enough……….There's less business being done and more CYA with a target on your back as an owner. You never know where the next ass-ache is coming from and have to stay off the ropes so you don't get some frivolous plate of shit handed your way, it's ridiculous. Every fucking shithead, mouth-breather thinks they know how things work with their newly minted law degrees from Google. It's "guilty until you prove yourself innocent", especially in IL

Joking aside, I'm actually good with the 4 day work week though...if you're still putting in your 40. It will be a good quality of life booster. I'm just pissed they didn't do this 30 years ago.
You'd have loved my schedule; 2 swings, 3 days, or 3 swings 2 days, or 2 swings, 2 days and a mid, or 3 swings, a day and a mid. If a mid was worked, one essentially had a 3-day weekend as they're off at 0600 Friday and back at either 1400, 1500 or 1600 on Monday. The quick-turnarounds could be brutal, though. We did/do have some pretty good work-hour/day rules.

At first I quickly fell in love with this forum bc you guys gave me so much good info on buying a car I was somewhat unfamiliar with and helping me get acclimated to it.

Now I'm loving it because of the posts on this page. Couldn't agree more

Over the last 7 months, this has definitely become one of my favorite places on the internet. I've engaged in a few sports forums over the years, also. All good Internet forums have the same recipe: a bunch of people from different places and backgrounds that come together around a central topic, but aren't afraid to occasionally venture outside the central topic.
