Windscreen Washer Jets - Low Pressure

I seem to having some issues with my windscreen washer jets/system. When the fluid comes out the 3 jets, it only reaches less then half the screen and not as poweful as it used to be.

The headlight washers work fine. Last week I pulled the pipe off where it connectes to the first washer jet and tested it - fluid does come out. I drained all the fluid that way and then put some hot water mixed with vinegar into the bottle, hoping to breakdown or clear any debris that might be in there. After I drained that and filled the bottle back up with washer fluid, it worked for a day or 2 - then its back to how it was.

Has anyone else experienced this? Im not sure if it's a washer jet issue, something in the pipes or a bottle issue.

Not what you need with the winter months approaching!

Any help/advise is much appreciated

What washer fluid are you using?
Just wondering if this may the issue.
Thought I read somewhere that fluid with rai. Repellent in it was not a good idea so not sure if you have something like that in there?

Just a thought

I think I may have found the issue and it's related to what you have mentioned...

About 2 weeks ago I put some fluid in which I got from Euro Car Parts. I purchased the car August 2020 but I think this is the first time I've actually topped up the bottle.

I thought maybe something was blocking the flow in the bottle so I mixed some vinegar, isopropyl alcohol and warm water - left it in for 5 mins then drained it.

On inspection I did see some black floaty bits in what I drained. I then put in a litre of plain water - and tested the washer... I was surprised to see that the jets were working as they should and the water was reaching the top of the screen.

I've just been to my local dealer and picked up some BMW washer fluid. I did ask the guy in the parts dept but he said washer fluid is washer fluid

I'll try the BMW fluid tomorrow and see what happens.

Update -

So I'm now using the BMW washer fluid 50/50 mix and everything is working fine. All 3 washer jets on the front now reach the top of the windscreen.

I guess I know what to use going forward now. Still a little baffled but I'm guessing the fluids differ in some way

Sadly windscreen washer fluid is not all the same. I now only use bmw stuff and never have a problem of bacteria growing and thickening the fluid and eventually making mould grow. All of this reduces the flow and puts a strain on the pump

Hey, having the same problem, so hopefully know the solution now.

Just having difficulty with unplugging the hose from the first nozzle, it feels that the think wires would snap if it comes off.
What is the secret?

Thanks a lot

You need to open up the outer rubber casing, you can then pull the wires out.

I found out years ago by trial and error that BMW fluid was superior to after market fluid it contains a cleaner that removes traffic film

I'm having a similar issue.
My washers were working fine till I took the car in for a service at the dealership. They refilled the fluid. Later tell me the washer jets aren't working and quote me $200 just to investigate. I of course refused to pay and brought the car home. They said they'll book me in again but they havent yet.
