I guess there is normal aspirated cars out there!!! Still waiting to see one. Lol

I will go with an M5. There is one listed on Autotrader. 2006 with 8k miles, $40k. Not bad unless you want something newer

just read more about m5's with the v10, seems like they are not really good with the low end torque and come alive above 4000 rpm

545i or 645ci seem to be where its at for low end torque

You're in a Cayman S and you ask this question......Not sure if you've heard of the Cayman GT4.......just a thought......I know you said 80k but it could be worth it. And let me help you scratch one car from your list. The 6 series is a boat unless you stand in it all day. Car feels very heavy.............Phil

Gt350.....the sound it makes will make up for that small amount of torque loss below 4k.

GT4 is even less of a GT car (despite its name) than my 981S, more raw noisy etc. Yes it has a little more low end torque but it is still a revver. I want something with balls from 1500 rpm onwards like my ol 5.0 mustangs had. They were like 2800 lbs with 300 ft lb of torqe at 3000 rpm. I am looking for the closest I can get to that in a refined, compactish car with a manual tranny.

manual transmission

I recently test drove a 2016 S5 with manual tranny since it promised good low end torque and seemed to fit the bill, but was left unimpressed, I actually didn't find it any stronger than my cayman in the lower rev ranges and the throttle response was weaker
Why even test drive the S5? Since it is not N/A
You can throw a tune and pulley on it and pick up over 100whp and the car will have a lot more umph.

I ain't got no time for turbos and their associated lag...

superchargers aren't as laggy...

tunes etc aren't my cup of tea...I don't like messing with the factory set up of an engine and the associated risk

The torque is felt about 3500 rpm and increases from that point. When you drive an S85 equipped vehicle you have to adjust your driving habits accordingly. Cruising around at 4000 rpm is like cruising around at 3000 rpm. It is just a different expectation. Additionally, the only time this should affect you is in 1st gear when you begin to roll off. Afterwards it is a driving skill thing.

One other VERY IMPORTANT note: The S85 was NOT designed to be used with the current 6-speed transmission that the manually equipped cars have. It was designed to be used with the 7-Speed SMG. The 6 speed is a concession to the NA markets and is a patch-job with the manual from the 650i. There are many drivers on the M5/M6 board who have the MT but have replaced the stock diff with a 3.91 diff to improve the deficit.

I hope this helps.

Cheers-mk

Did you test drive an RS5 by chance? Or a 09-12 S5 (have the V8 instead of the SC V6)

The RS5 doesn't come with three pedals.

If you're ok with Superchargers, how about F-Type?

Good suggestion.
f type coupe manual...big heavy car but other than that might do the trick
I love its looks.
I would never buy it new given its horrid depreciation rate
But cpo manual coupe is def a bit of a unicorn...more of a long term solution

From what I've heard, the F-Types are holding value better than other Jags.

You will have to wait for a cpo. The manual is new for 2016(V6 only).
