Great news. Now we wait to see if our existing lights will have a path for official support from BMW or if we’ll still need to rely on coding.

News reports say that the new US standard allows no more brightness than the former standard, which is much less than ROW. Once again, the US will have a unique standard requiring unique hardware and software. Retrofit much harder unless the hardware in earlier models is the same as the lights for current models that will be upgraded. I would guess that the Audi eTron is a good candidate and perhaps the Laser BMW lights, but my pre-LCI 2020 530e with the highest-spec (but non-laser) lights will not be upgraded.
