On top of the looks, the additional suspension work, and things you cannot see more than make up for what is a minuscule price delta between the two.
As for creature comforts, there are none that the GTS has that the GT4 doesn’t. I have NAV, Bose, XM, CarPlay, heated seats, etc. Not sure what else you might need.
Ventilated seats, , more color options, multifunction heated steering wheel, leather interior, real door handles....I’m sure there might be few other items I’m missing.

Do you mean GTS 2.5l? Did you really own a GTS? You would probably know what motor is in it.

Congrats on the Cayman. Same color as what I configured I think.

Yes I did own one right around when they first came out. That was a total typo on the 2.5. I don’t really see those items as necessities for me but everyone is surely different on what they want and don’t. I certainly don’t miss them from the GTS but I had the alcantara interior in that car too. As far as the car goes, I have never owned a car that feels so alive like the GT4 does. It really feels special and well above what the GTS, but I’m a 6 Speed and N/A fan over turbo any day. I know the GTS can be made into a a rocket and a massively powerful weapon but I still prefer the NA car. I will say I didn’t think the F4 sounded bad at all either. I prefer it to the S55 engine by a long shot - they still make me wince in near pain to hear them. The engine also got much better sounding after a couple thousand miles.

Nice I love everything about the Caymans but the super long gearing. 82mph in second gear is crazy long and IMO takes away from the joy of shifting.

This thread has my attention! Love seeing the caymen. I'm in the early stages of looking for what replaces my e92M. And Porsche is big on my list. At this point, I'm at least conceptually considering a 997 turbo or two new cars, a 718 GTS or GT4. My concern with the 997 is that while it will be very quick and can be made quite a bit faster, I'm concerned that the general driving experience will feel like a 997 carrera which never wowed me. I drove a plain Jane, off the lot 987 boxster (nonS) and have never forgotten it. I'm not looking for something with a rock hard suspension, but I am looking for an engaging driving experience that has a sense of theater. Sometimes I think I should go for the GTS as it may be more streetable, but the GT4 is A) a GT car B)looks great and C) will likely have a great sense of theater (just not sure how much of a penalty I'd need to take on ride quality---is it really that harsh?)

The GT4 is absolutely fantastic. Spent a day with one earlier this year, and everything about it is so good.

The only thing I wouldn’t have minded it shorter gearing for road driving, you didn’t get to row quite as much as I would have liked since you could just stick it in third and roll through the corners at speed, it was so planted.

Congrats. I remember in 2017 test driving a Cayman S in that same color. It had the 6 cylinder at the time. What an addicting car. That much power in something so small and lightweight, insane.

My first memory of Porsche is of a 914 that sat on the corner of a small car lot in Fort Wayne IN for 2yrs or so, did a image search and found a similar car for sale.

I'd see this car several times a week sometimes being looked at by a customer but never move, eventually the tires rotted then the lot moved, owner died or went out of business around 1984.

My second impression was at a pole barn around 1987 watching some bondo dry, a 924 or 928 don't remember exactly, what I do remember is when started rocked your jaw off it's hinges... no thank you, let's uhhh go cruising in the Monty Carlo SS again. Porsche in Fort Wayne in those days mostly was shipped from a stationed in Germany former military.

If the starter went out on the Chevy you went to Hires Auto Parts or NAPA or a GM dealer. If it went out on the Porsche 6-8weeks from za fatherland.

Now all in time considered- computers, cargo shipping, living in a major city, mass distribution and better everything. Mostly felt my love for BMW being on my 7th one, like them better and going to a car like anything Porsche offers I'll skip and just spend a tick more to get a Ferrari.

Now in our lives stereo types play into my lack of love for Porsche the forum friendliest being Sally Carrera from Pixar and plenty of Hollywoods douche of the year award winners. Not really fair compared to some of the BMW scenes I suppose, its a thing.

To end this novella, BMW has 86'd the next gen 2series RWD convertible. I love NA cars and that's why I drive a 128i. 718GTS 4.0 brings a whole new option, I can now justify the Porsche, cept first impressions is unchanged.

Having raced against and heard the 4cyl Cayman's with a decent exhaust, I must conclude that those people dissing on the 4cyl don't know what the hell they are talking about. They are just trying to check boxes that make them think more of something=better, like a V12 has to be better than a V8 and a V16 has to be even more better, and V32 would be even betterer.

Agree 100%. Different doesn't necessarily mean worse or better.

It's difficult for people to grasp that all of these statements can be true:
The 981 sounds great.
The 718 does not sound like the 981.
The 718 sounds great.

I loved my 718. Would I have preferred a traditional Porsche Flat-6? Of course, however, the Flat-4 was still very good, and the car's chassis, handling and feedback, is hard to find in many other cars. Either way, the depreciation of the Flat-4 718's sounds like a win for those in the used market
