ESS M3 or 09 GTR

I know the ESS charged M3 would be a tad bit less, but after cruising the GTR forums I saw that one with basic mods and a tune can run mid 10s all day long without too much worry of breaking things.

I know some will be biased toward the M3, but let me hear your opinions on which car you would go with and the reasons why.

And when I saw ESS charger Im talking about the VT2-625 and looking at their dyno graphs on the website, it looks way low from the numbers Ive seen on the forums from guys with the 625

I'm biased, but a modded GT-R will give you experiences a 3 series never will be able to, modded M3 or otherwise. The GT-R will hold its value better and be more reliable. A stock turbo modified GT-R is extremely reliable. Mine has never been to the dealership after the day it was bought and I just crossed 30k miles. 500+ whp since 15k, 600+ whp since 20k. Not one issue.

E85, injectors, fuel pumps, mid pipe, flash, intakes. Basic stuff. Add in downpipes and full exhaust and you are looking at 630+ whp. I now have full bolt-ons. The car is every bit of a ~136+ mph trap speed now. It absolutely DOMINATES on the street

What about the bending rod issues. When does that start to happen more often

Upgraded turbos and poorly tuned E85 cars. 700+ whp/wtq is when you need to start worrying. Go with an established and well respected tuner and there will be no issues. Even beat-on, upgraded turbo cars have held up fine to a lot of abuse when properly tuned when they were finally torn down for rods/pistons.

Hi, thanks for the input. I've always been fascinated by the GTR but is always steered away from it due to talks about high cost maintenance and reliability. I really wish to own one and my only remaining concern is cost of running the car. What concerns are there about the 07's or 08's? Thanks.

GTR. Taking performance aside, I only see 2-3 GTRs a day vs. countless M3s. That alone will be enough to sway me if I was cross-shopping the two.

Depends but for the most part, yes. Parts new from the factory are insanely expensive which is why you buy aftermarket or used Factory brake pads and rotors are around $7k, lol. You can buy a set of lightly used rotors on the forums for $1k. A set of much better rotors from Alcon is $2k, etc.

Maintenance is easy if you are a DIY. Oil changes no different than any other car. Drivetrain fluid services are every 18k on the 09-11 models, every 36k on the 2012+. If the dealer does it expect a ~$2k bill. You can order the fluids and do it yourself for around $700. I did them myself and it was easy, and only took a few hours. I personally do not think it is an expensive car to maintain given the performance and the cars that compete with it.

700 to DIY the drivetrain fluids? How's it end up being so much
