2020 M550 Stock Numbers before tune.

I haven't seen this yet but for anyone considering one, here's my stock best 0-60 and 1/4 mile. I'm gonna pull the trigger on the carbahn stage 1 this month and will post those numbers as well.

So first huge shout out to Chris at carbahn and the guys over at Motor Works West in NJ. Tuning process was seamless and took less than a day.

Got it out this morning and this seems to be my consistent 0-60 now. I'll say the 3.66 above was fastest, but 3.8 was consistent. The tune feels amazing and I'll have drag numbers this weekend.

Great posts. Thanks for sharing.

A little disappointed in 3/10th drop in 0-60 for what is supposedly a +100HP tune. Then again, maybe my expectations are unrealistic?

From a "butt dyno" perspective, how does the car feel pre/post tune?

Any other mods in your future (intake, exhaust, down pipes)?

Did you opt for the warrantied version of the Carbahn tune?

Did Motor Works West have anything to say about the Carbahn tune/support? There has been mixed feedback about Carbahn on this forum.

From a "butt dyno" perspective, how does the car feel pre/post tune? definitely feels faster, especially in higher gears

Any other mods in your future (intake, exhaust, down pipes)? none as of yet, maybe an exhaust if they are ever in-stock and readily available

Did you opt for the warrantied version of the Carbahn tune? yes

Did Motor Works West have anything to say about the Carbahn tune/support? There has been mixed feedback about Carbahn on this forum. they were very pleased with carbahn, I spoke at length with MWW before calling carbahn. My experience was nothing but stellar dealing with both
Hope that answers your questions.

Yes, thanks. My MY2022 should be here shortly. Carbahn tells me they're working on a way to tune the new locked ECUs. Carbahn had some rough feedback early, but I've now read a couple of good experiences here so maybe I'll put them back in the running.

My plans are: intake, chip, down pipes, and exhaust. Hope is to get to or surpass stock M5 territory in reliable fashion. And yes, apparently the global supply chain for German performance sedan aftermarket exhausts is on permanent back order.

WOW ! Nice times there.

So your car is completely stock, no mods, just the tune ?

I was told that tunes void warranty. Can you remove it and put it back on so the dealership is unaware ?

The dealership will always be able to tell the car was tuned.

It will only void the warranty if an issue is caused by the tune.

Yikes, that sounds awful risky to me. If the dealership can "always tell" then they could tie pretty much any/every failure to adding more power than the car was engineered for. Definitely anything in the engine/driveline would be suspect if broken, but I would not put it past them to refuse suspension, and other components too.

It probably depends on dealership and service advisor relationships, but these dealerships are in the business to Make MONEY......period.

That would be on BMW, not the dealership.

And yes, every business is in business to make money. Just like the company you work for. Everyone has to put food on the table.

If it doesn't make sense to you then don't do it, pretty simple.

Last three cars I've had were tuned and driven on the track/drag without any issues. Maybe my luck will run out one day. If it does, I'll pay for it. The enjoyment is worth it to me.

I was going to do this actually, but if the dealership can easily tell if the car has been tuned/modded then I probably will not until the warranty expires in Oct 2023.

Thanks for the information. I appreciate it. The first time I took my car into the dealership my Service Advisor gave me a "heads up" that any tune could possibly void my warranty. I was hoping you could apply the tune and remove the tune without them knowing.

The dealership won't know from a visual standpoint.

BMW would only know if there's an issue and they dive into the car's modules.

I would also expect a bit more from a +100hp claimed tune. I'm running 11.2 on the street with +3lbs of boost using JB4. I could be wrong but I don't think I'm making 630bhp as per the carbhan stage 1.

Very interesting thanks for posting. It seems your 0-60 didn’t change dramatically but once the car gets going you see more of an improvement.

A half a second in the quarter mile time is huge…Great work. Was it a 7 mph gain as well trap speed?…. All from a tune? Outrageous! There should be no disappointment with those numbers. Sorry if I missed reading this, but was all this done using launch control? What tires do you have?

I am still super happy. The car runs like a champ. did my first half assed attempt at a 60-130. I'll post it.

thank! i have stock run flat no-seasons(continentals) i did slip a bit on launch. I use sport plus everything off as it tends to launch better then the computer controlled launch control.

I know its invalid, but not too much slope. I started a bit late, probably should have slowed more before going full throttle through the 60mph barrier.
