Not going there with you Larry. Been there done that on the star tires you never stood corrected on them not being more expensive. You’re just the forum agitator and I accept that.
Go back and read your comment on the B58 G30/31 handling the same as the 340. I’m out, mic dropped.

Do star marked tires cost more than non starmaked? You know, the statement you emphatically made about how it’s all marketing so the dealers make more money and/or the tire manufacturers make more money? You know, when you said it’s a money grab for them to charge more (when they don’t)? Let’s start with that. Did you ever admit they actually are the same price? (Regardless of whether there is any difference or not in quality or specs). Nope, you just carried on taunting everyone with your “magic tire” sarcasm.
When you are posting with that thesaurus by your side so you can sound smarter than you are, look up the word humility.

I’ll give you the last word, because everyone here knows how important it is to you. I can see I’ve annoyed you. Nothing like annoying a washed up ex pat who pumps up his tires behind a keyboard.
Tumbleweeds on the star marked claim huh? Seriously, look up humidity in that thesaurus and while you’re at it, look up Character. Bye.

I don’t want to get in the middle of this little marital spat. Lord knows I have enough of that on my hands… but you do come off like an asshole sometimes.

OP - I see two obvious answers and one obvious alternate route.
Option one - keep the F80 and maybe get an M550 to go with it. Option two - get an M5. Alternate route - M340 But if you get an M550 you won’t be disappointed. It’s fabulous. It’s a luxury muscle car. But in true muscle car form, it’s heavy. Especially the nose. It drives lighter than it is. DHP option can add to this trait. But not all like it. Coming from and M3, you may not love DHP. Regardless, the primary place the weight can’t hide is the nose. It’s a front heavy car. But it’s effortless in power and incredible to drive every day. I had a G30 540i RWD before my M550. It’s also a great car and much lighter feeling. Depending on how you drive, you may like it as well. But if you’re going with the B58 engine, I think I’m back to the M340. Unless you’re ready to sacrifice sport for comfort. In which case, a 540 M Sport is a great option if you want a lighter feel. My wife’s X7 40ix is obviously big and drives big but the front end of it feels light as a feather. It’s really quite impressive. Such a large vehicle but it drives lighter than my M550. It rolls around more and is clumsier, of course. But the V8 makes a noticeable difference in the feel of the front end. I don’t mind the front end feeling so heavy when I take a fast 90 degree turn because it feels so good when I straighten it out and release that power! Keep us posted!

I haven't... should have added that as a disclosure. I know how much you enjoyed it, but reading about the M5 and from OP's perspective re: comfort during longer distances, it seems like he's looking to move away from full M.

Funny you ask. If it’s still there, I’m going to text my local sales guy (who I’ve never bought from) and ask him if I can test drive one today. It’s a nice day, why not?

I feel like longer drives would be pretty comfortable in the M5. I haven’t been in one but it seems long drives are typically on decent roads (highway/interstate) and the M5 should have pretty comfortable seats. Any negative effect from the tighter suspension would be in town, I’d think.
