No real issues to date (fingers crossed) except the annoying 20" tire and rims;
....
Yesterday again at the tire shop; turns out none of the rims are bent; only out of balance. after 2 separate dealers and a tire shop visits. Vibration is gone after a month. I almost paid $6K for a set at the dealer! Gladly they didn't have it in stock then and with all the backorders haven't been able to get a set. I was going to put my winters on until I find what I want and the tire shop figured it out.

After Joe's post though, as of yesterday, I started getting the false passenger seatbelt chime . I gotta start looking for a solution for that now
A new day with bimmer

BTW, I have a similar Excel file for my maintenance records ))

Nope, it's just most of the responses are from 2018 owners.

2022M550i you need a count by year and control total in your analysis.

The majority of people that responded owned 2018 models. As time goes by and more people provide input, you'll see the score even out over the years. As time permits, I'll tally up the number of cars by year.

2019 530i, just hit 3 years, w/16k miles. No issues at all and I am really pleased with it. I think it helps that it's the 3rd model year of the G30. The car is nicely equipped and no issues with any of the additional equipment etc. I usually get the itch for something new and different about this time but haven't even thought about it.

AC didnt blow cold air from day 1. Took 4 mos to properly dx; fixed under warranty: great ever since

668M rims are too soft and bend all the time. 1 new rim & 5 straightenings.

No other problems at all. Great car!

What was the resolution? I've always felt the G30 AC was weak, even with new microfilters.

2021 540 7k miles. Had a couple of regenerative brake errors pop up. States you can continue to drive but bring to dealer. I brought to dealer and they said they never heard of that. lol.

2022 m550 4500 miles, sunroof motor replaced after glass and visor failed closed and wouldnt reopen. 3-4 cycles after replacement it failed again. Glass was closed but visor only closed 3/4 of the way. They're picking it back up tomorrow to troubleshoot. There is a SIB out for sunroof issues. I'll update when I get the car back.

Edit: they recoded the new motor 😒

2017 520D M Sport Xdrive

Just a few miles shy of 46,000 miles now. No major mechanical issues with the car so far. I bought the car at 35,800 miles from the main dealer with a one year warranty.

I noticed that the Gesture control is not functioning to it full capability. One such example is that I can't accept calls / dismissed calls using this feature. I am not overly bothered.

The car had a initially had a squeak coming from the steering column, which lasted a few months. This was checked by the dealer and no malfunction was found. It went after I started driving the car more frequently.

Other than those minor issues, the Sat nav malfunctioned after basic coding and the head unit is no longer accessible through bummer code.

Lower radiator blind also replaced under warranty.
Front rotors warped. Rotors and pads replaced out of pocket.
Steering Column complaining when retracting. Will have it looked at when I bring it in for annual inspection/emission test.
I do get the passenger restraint malfunction very infrequently. Will have them look at it again.
Had the passenger door handle lock up once on a very cold morning. Never happened again.
2018 540I X drive bought it as a CPO with 24k miles. Now i have 47k miles. Problems i've had are:

Active grille (took it to the dealership first time it happened, waited 3 hours to get it fixed. Second time it happened, i force-opened it with my finger and it has not happened again)
Passenger restraint malfunction (did an extensive research on this site, found an existing service bulletin, had the dealer replace the sensor and the problem went away)
Highway vibration at speeds 75 mph and higher (on going issue. waiting on friction discs)

Purchased as CPO 12/2021 with 30k on the clock. No issues reflected in service history, at time of purchase.

Since I've had it (8k miles so far):

1 - steering column sticking: tried to fix with lubrication, hopefully will replace the column since that didn't work

2 - rear window shade sticking - replaced the switch under warranty

3 - ambient light under dash failed - replaced under warranty

4 - A/C started hissing unusually - replaced evaporator under warranty

1 is a known model issue. 2 & 3 are annoying but don't seem super unusual four years into existence, and warranty handled. 4 feels a little early. But it's an AL car that's now in West TN, so the A/C gets worked hard. Would have been way more annoying without warranty.
Just went and looked at the service history I was given when I made the purchase and I found this one that I missed:

12/4/19 at 14,262 miles "Bottom air flap/cooling flap (mechanics) Switches incorrectly/does not switch"

Defect Code: 5171348300

Would this have been the active shutters in the grill that everyone talks about?

I looked this up a few days ago, and I believe it is active shutters.

Yep, that is the bottom active shutters, not the one behind the Kidney grill. I have all the history on my car and I literally can't believe neither active grill has failed.
