More home automation stuff from Eve. I have several of these. They work well for turning dehumidifiers and lights on and off.

What's your preference for a Windows laptop? I have had bad experiences with Dell.

We just got a new Dell laptop for Wifey. Her father gave it to us. I'm not super impressed with that one either. The fan was running full bore while I was setting it up, although it got quieter after the initial setup.

I'm a Mac guy, myself. My 2012 MacBook Pro still runs like new and my new MacBook with the M1 chip is superb and is absolutely silent. In my experience, Macs usually outlast their OS upgrades. IOW, the thing that takes them out of action is when they can no longer run the latest MacOS update. My 2012 MBP runs the older OS fine, but soon MS Office and the latest web browsers will not run on that OS. Wifey still has a 2012 MacBook Air that was running Windows 7 in bootcamp. Again, the OS going obsolete is what killed it.

Macs are often pricier than Windows machines, but they last a hell of a lot longer. If you don't have to have Windows, think about a MacBook.

New sports coat for the collection. But unique in that's it's all leather.

My week-old 2023 Macbook Air 15" with the Apple M2 chipset has been surprisingly amazing so far, and as quiet as an iPhone or iPad since it has no mechanical disks or even cooling fans. It is uber-snappy doing things like web browsing or email, but does have a barely-noticeable delay when launching Intel processor apps I assume due to the extra overhead of needing to load the Rosetta emulator. The only nuisance was that a few of my obscure apps were "corrupted" after restoring from a Time Machine backup of my broken Intel i9 Macbook Pro, so I had to re-download/install them.

Apologies to Intel, but I am quite liking the Apple M2 chipset so far...

^ Good to hear about the new Macs. My 2014 MacBook Pro is still running strong but when it goes I’ll be happy to get a new one with the superior Apple chips.

I should also add that I've been using the new M2 in my work office for 7 hours straight, and the battery is still at 51%.....

My old mid 2012 MacBook Pro developed a nasty habit of just randomly shutting off so I bought a new MacBook Pro about a year ago. It's got the M1 Pro chip and it has been brilliant.

So, much faster than your old one? How's the fan? When I get too much going on the fan in my 2014 starts running like crazy.

Much quicker than the old one and I can't say that I've ever noticed the fan running. I often have 10 or more tabs open as well as watching YouTube.

I’m gonna stick with Windows and probably Lenovo. Likely will order a P16S (slim) to try out.

Haha!!! Man ain't that the truth. I gave up the battle @ age 42. I had nice curly hair and I kept a clean, crispy fade always. I will say that I don't use a razor quite yet for a clean shave. I still have enough for a silloute of hair.

Got tired of sitting on my ass all day while working so got me one of these. Now I just need something to lift the laptop up higher - the desk that comes with the treadmill is way too low to work comfortably, and I'm not even that tall.

Tell us what you think of it.

Curious, what’d you have before?

I like it, the shape reminds me of the iPhone4 which had the metal band with square edges. I literally just activated it, restored it from the previous phone setup and love it so far. i had the iPhone11 for three years and should recoup about half of what I paid for this one, it was an open box deal.

Well, I got the bass guitar a bit back and was playing it thru the old Blues Jr amp but that really isn't the thing for it. So I got an Ampeg Rocket 200w 1x15. Dayum but it is bigger than I expected.

Haven't even plugged in yet. Trepidation.

I lost count but its probably my 10+ printer since my first 9 dot matrix printer back in the earlier 80's.

The price of ink cartridges is so ridiculous so I'm switching to EcoTank Supertank Refillable Ink Tank Printers.

Costco Special Edition with 2 extra large bottle of black ink @ $150 less than the cheapest competitor.

I love mine, thing never runs out of ink. Still on my first fill after almost 2 years. It is starting to have WiFi connectivity issues though.

Both of my home printers over the last two decades have been lasers. Ink cartridges dry out between uses for us, and the printed ink runs off of the paper in the rain. No inkjets for me.....
