I make about 2.X more than my wife...and *if* all of the sudden she got a fat promotion where she was making more than I am currently...I would be in heaven and the very next day contact my S.A. to get me on the waiting list for the new M3
 .Now if the roles were reveresed and she was making my current salary and I, hers....I think there would be certainly a change in dyanmic, but I think we could roll with it. Last edited by Mr Practical; 09-02-2007 at 01:39 PM.. |

Glad to see this hasn't turned into a "Your not the Man of the House if your Wife Makes more." Knuckle Dragging Fest. Seems that there is a great number of surprisingly insecure men who simply cannot handle the idea of their woman making more than they do.
My wife and I started with Nothing... I mean Nothing. Decent apartment full of hand me down furniture, car that I had in High School, and I had my motorcycle. That was about it as far as assets went. We went to school full time, and worked and part time jobs. We moved in together after about a 6-month get to know ya phase, married about a year after that. Anyway, long story short. I made all or MORE than she did for the first few years of our marriage. Silly me she was still in school. She made more than me just 1 year out of school, and She now makes more than Double my salary and I do pretty well as an Art Director... Took a couple of years to sorta get over it, no matter how much I told myself that I am a modern guy and it doesn't matter, it did matter for a couple of years. But, it's the difference between a Mathematics Degree, and a 4.0 from a Private university and a 3.1 Fine Arts Degree from a State University.  I am very thankful that I have a strong willed, independent, and secure woman to share my life with. I know she is with me for ME, there simply isn't ANYTHING keeping her around other than the fact that she digs me. She doesn't NEED me for anything, and it's a terrific feeling. I'd hate to have some desperately bored, empty headed, and needy wife at home pining for me and shopping for as a hobby. Your income doesn't determine whether you are the "Man of the House" or not. If that's the only way you know you are the "MAN", then there is something horribly wrong.

uh oh for me. I make quite a bit of money doing what I do, but at the same time.. well I won't go there. |

I still create for a living, supervise those more talented than me and make a fair bit more than the National Household Average, so I am not going to be TOO ashamed of my 3.1 GPA.
