I got X3 as a loaner, it wasn't cleaned from inside and the drive was not impressive, to say the least.

i went to a different dealership then were i bought the car. but the paid for my enterprise loaner and i got a 06 expedition. it was fine to drive for the day.
and im almost positive that no bmw dealerships will reserve bmw's as loaners. i think its always first come first serve.

So far, I've had an E46, an X3, and right now I have a Mini Cooper convertible as a loaner. The Mini is really cool - the interior is retro and everything is pretty much chrome. However, I wouldn't pay that much for one and the handling was really jerky...I don't know if it was a result of other ppl.'s wear and tear driving or if that's the way they are. It was my favorite loaner so far though. BMW rocks!

First time I got a...gasp;;Chevy mini-van, which was an Enterprise rental, paid for by dealer. I promise I am not exaggerating--the damned thing made me seasick.
Next time I told the dealer I wanted a BMW and got an X3. It was OK, but glad I didn't buy one. This most recent time I asked again for a Beemer and was told that they have two different appointment schedules--one for those who will take any loaner and one for those who insist on a BMW. If you demand a BMW loaner, then you have to wait about a week longer for a service appointment. I was in a hurry, but did ask for something a little less revolting than a Chevy mini-van. They said they would get me a full-size rental. Again it was a Chevy--don't remember what model--full sized, but what a hunk-o-crap!! Windshield washers came on when I turned on the turn signal, brakes only worked when stood on, engine rattled like it was coming apart (bearings and valves) at start-up, never did find the rear window defroster switch, radio quality from 1952, handled like a canoe on a windy day, etc. Next time I will plan ahead and get the BMW loaner. I'm now officially a spoiled, snobbish, whiney BMW owner! |

All of the loaners we give out are '06 E90 325i's or X3's for SUV owners. It's kinda cool. We have about 45 E90's and a few '05 E46 325's, which I don't like since I started driving the E90's. We have a Hertz rental spot there too, but all our loaners are BMW's. Which some people treat like crap

Thats 'cause nothing goes faster more often or stops as suddenly as a loaner! They also run on the crappiest gas around and never need the oil checked! |

To save money, our dealership started charging $10 to use a loaner. The dealership would like us to fill the loaners with 87 octane as well, but I absolutely refuse to do that. The lowest I will go is 89.

Stevens Creek BMW, Santa Clara loaned me a Z4 2004 2.5 / steptronic -- I wanted a 5/6spd but no luck. The Z4 was fun to drive for a day

Man, and I thought I got some nice loaner cars! You guys get 5 and 7 series?? I requested a 5 series but they didn't have any...It also depends on your age as to what kind of loaner you get. At my dealer, you have to be at least 21 to get a BMW loaner, otherwise you get a Pontiac Grand Am, Chevy Suburban, etc.

Had my old 325xi in at the dealership about 3 times (once a year) for service, I've gotten a 328i, X3 and a Mini as loners. I actually did not buy the car at the dealer that I had it serviced at either, but that dealer (Towne in Buffalo) actually bought out the other dealership in the area that I bought the car at.

I personally have always received a BMW as a loaner, but it doesn't really bother me. You aren't buying the car, so whats the big deal? Does it bruise your ego to drive anything other then BMW? It beats the alternatives (busing or walking). |
