Hard compared to the rest of my family and coworkers, but probably not as hard as this community. My gas mileage is surprisingly high 23.5 mpg for an average speed of under 30. I am just now nearing the end of the break in period so I am starting to gradually increase how hard I push the car. I think I got a good one as I was around 33 mpg for pure highway driving.

I used to go road racing with NASA and I know how unsafe it is to try and drive extremely hard on public roads. I drive pretty mild on interstates and major roads. I wait till I hit the back roads, than do some SPIRITED driving as long as there are no blind corners.I don't want to clip an apex and end up killing some family coming the other way.

the hardest part is driving within the limits of the break-in period... after that it's pretty darn difficult not to drive it hard all the time, the car begs fast driving! When I'm not in the car, I want to be in it! Not good for my lease, I have only 20,000 km per year and I've done 8,000 km in only 2 months!!!

Moderately hard...If there is such a thing. When im on the highway, hitting at least 100 is a given. On the streets, probably 80 on an average. There is no reason to baby the car, it just feels so much better when it is driven to its potential

I plan on having my car for a looooong time. Concitering im in high school and I won't be able to afford this type of car for a long time to come, I try to take care of it by not driving it too hard. I try to take it easy, only redlining it in 1 or 2 gears every couple days and take it up to 80 on the highway, just about every day. I also only take corners hard every once in a wile.
do you guys/girls think i babying the car to much?

I drive enthusiastically.

As others said, how hard is hard depends on your perceptions. I generally try to keep my speed under twice the posted speed limit.

I am a very good and safe driver, and I don't speed...that much, but whenever I'm in a loaner car, I floor it, EVERY time, when I drive alone. I LOVE the sound of 7000 RPMS, and of course I disable all traction control first . But as a person who cares for the E90 a great deal, I won't push a car that hasn't been broken in yet. I'd never drive a car with 479 miles on it, the way I would a car with 4,930 miles on it. Unlike some other people at my dealership who just don't care... Plus, the cars that are broken in, feel better too. :rocks:

I drive it like I stole it. What´s the point in having a BMW if you´re not going to use it´s potential?

I bought an e46 M3 new in 2003 and found that the opportunites to really utilize the car's abilities were quite limited. Freeways in and around Seattle are well patrolled, and there are certainly very limited opportunities in an urban setting to really drive aggressively if safety is a criterion. I found freeway onramps to be nice to max acceleration, and windy roads near out second home on Whidbey island to be nice for challenging the suspension. But all in all I found that a very small percentage of the time was I really utilizing the M3's capablities. That is why I recently sold my M3 and am waiting on my 330i which finished production Friday. The e90 is much more comfortable for every day driving, the seats are much better for me, and I'm looking forward to comfort access, Sirius, Navigation, bluetooth, etc. By the way, I do not consider the e90 a dog; it is a fun car even going directly from the M3. Now I may change my mind in a year or two in which case the e90 M3 would be my next car.

Man, I wish I lived where some of you do. I would never regularly be able to drive that way. We seem to have cops and patrolmen in such abundance here, who have nothing better to do than to pull over some snot-nosed Bimmer driver (or at least that's their attitude). Most of the time I really have to mind my manners, but at select times I'll cut 'er loose.

I suppose there are a few opportunities to open your car on on Florida roads. But not too many at least in south Florida. If Wills getting anywhere close to 140 daily (sound like ) then he must live in the middle of nowhere (better watch out for those redneck cops .. ever see the movie Deliverance???)

Give David a break. It's not a Ferrari or a Porsche, it's a sedan for christ's sake! It's sporty but it's still a sedan that makes less than 300hp.
Sure it's sporty and fun but it's also nice when your stuck in traffic.
