LCI and G31 530e?

Hi

So my current G31 lease expires this summer. So currently debating if I'm going with a G21 330e or if the G31 LCI with a 530e will arrive soon enough.

According to the future models thread here, https://g30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=901686
the G31 LCI with a 530e model is due to start production in July but my dealer knows nothing about it.
But they do know about the G21 330e that will start at the same time.

Anyone out there that has been able to order or get more info on the G31 530e? Or the LCI models at all?

Yeah, I'm wondering too! But the G21 330e has been available on the BMW webpage for preordering, and no info about a G31 530e. Maybe it will come this year but with a later release date if the info is correct?

This is a pure gut feeling, but I believe they will wait until they can use the latest battery technology (5th gen + 5th gen electro motor), which is introduced with the iX3 for the first time.

Rumors are that the G30 and G31 LCI will be introduced during the Geneva Auto Show (March 5th - 15th 2020)

remember that the 5 series is the best selling vehicle for BMW

Maybe that's why it's really quiet regarding the LCI. There are also very few spotting of the testing....

Best selling? I thought it was one of the most profitable but thought the 3 series or some of the suvs were perhaps the models selling most by numbers.( happy to be corrected)

As to the original question, I'm sure it won't be long before the dealers know.

Might be worth keeping an eye on the press global bmw website where they post news and model updates.

BMW genius may also be amongst the first to know as well potentially

Very much doubt that. With the few markets that I'm familiar with, the 3 Series, X3 and X5 would each trounce the 5 Series in terms of sales. There must be world-wide sales of these vehicles to confirm this.

Indeed, in 2018 the 5-series was the most produced/sold: Name: Screen Shot 2020-02-07 at 5.24.03 AM.png

But... combined 3 and 4 series outsell the 5 series.

Fantastic! thanks for that... was searching to back up my remark, but you did it for me.

And don't forget it's already an old car now...
so hopefully it gets some additional refreshing with the LCI

that's why my gut feeling regarding 5th gen batteries and 5th gen electromotor... (or call it wishful thinking for that matter )

Also keep in mind that for these years the 5 series had just been released in 2016 whereas the 3/4 series was getting long in the tooth.

Based on "one bird in the hand vs. two in the bush", I went ahead and bought a second 530e. I thought long and hard about waiting for the LCI and the possibility that it would have Gen 5 electrics. I also thought that the new rules in CA requiring 30 mi EV range for some of their benefits would aid this. But, on the other hand, there were some negatives for waiting for a US buyer: 1) Will Trump wake up on the wrong side of the bed and tweet 25% duties on German imports? 2) Will the LCI have as generous discounts/incentives? 3) Will the LCI continue BMW's practice of pricing the 530e the same as the 530i, while they have an increased price for all their other PHEV's about equal to the Fed Tax Credit? 4) peculiar to Texas: will all of the $2500 EV/PHEV Grants be gone by the time an ordered LCI 530e arrives--Limit of 2000 of these and with the Mini EV coming in March I expect a lot of these to go quickly. I was looking for a transition PHEV for 2-3 years. I expect to replace it with a full EV and there are a lot of good ones coming in that time frame: Audi Q4 e-Tron, BMW i-next, Ford Mach-e, Volvo XC40 Recharge, VW ID.4, and Porsche Macan spring readily to mind. I got a stripper 530e from Dealer stock that cost me a grand total of $35, 448 out the door after all discounts, tax credits and BMWCCA rebate. The only options were Dark Graphite Metallic and a heated steering wheel. I got the dealer to throw in a Gloss Black grill, with the silver ones in a box in the trunk. I figure someone ordered this car and didn't take it, since I have never seen a stripper 5-series on a Houston lot. Even the stripper is VERY well equiped. Even with today's lousy resale on the 5-series, how much of that can I loose in 2 years on a car with about 6000 miles?

Thanks for your thoughts. Akways interesting with different views.
Problem for me is I have a G31 today and really want a G31 PHEV. Problem is that they dont exist yet. Otherwise, the choice would be the same as yours, order one now.

Assuming production for pre-LCI ends in June, does anyone know when the "order banks" close?

If you are able to, extend your current lease, and just get the LCI. other wise its basically the same car with Live Cockpit Pro and iDrive7. To the best of my knowledge the current 5er EOP is 06/2020. So the LCI's SOP should be 07/2020. I currently leasing a G30 540, and my lease is up in April, and I am going to extend it and order the LCI.

In the same boat as you with a lease ending in April. Are you able to extend 2 months without an order number or is it 3 months? I'm wondering how early we'd be able to order so was hoping it's 3 months but I think 2 months should still be fine, just curious if you know.

I think it's 2 months with out a production number, and up to 6 months with a production number.
